I did not get to CEDIA but know some of you did. Perhaps you could clarify about a few products I see listed on the CEDIA 2010 product list on www.z-wave.com:
NorthQ MQ-900 - This is obviously similar to the Vera2. Do they make this for Mios or is this simply a unit that is being purchased and used by different vendors?
Bulogics - Though not directly on this site, Bulogics shows a web controller on their site. Was this seen at CEDIA? Does it compare to Vera?
RCS - Not a question, but for those that were looking for a replacement for the old Intermatic CA3750, it appears to resurfaced under the RCS brand as model PMC30-ZW.
Bulogics does have a gateway, but they aren’t looking to sell it to the public. It is meant to be sold through channels like your power or cable company. It will probably surface rebranded in one form or another, keep an eye out.
Update to #3 above.
I tried to order one of these items.
I spoke to a guy at RCS, Inc, and he told me that this product (PMC30-ZW / ZB / WF) is not availble for normal distribution, it is only available for OEM quantity purchases (1000 units).
We will have to wait until a distributer takes a stock for re-sale.
JOD: Thanks for the info. I looked at their site yesterday and concluded that they looked like a wholesale channel. I’d like one of these, but I doubt that a company like ASI can handle a thousand. Dang!
Yeah it sucks for us since we want one. But, the silver lining is that at least we know there is a product out there to replace the Intermatic CA3750. Thanks to mcoulter for spotting it.
They don’t make the hardware. I think they buy them form the same (Far East) manufacturer. The NorthQ will have a NorthQ firmware, but it is still in beta.
I saw that RCS had something like this at CEDIA '11 but it was in a different enclosure. It was a 30A Z-Wave contactor and it may have the same board I saw in a smaller plastic weather proof enclosure. I know it had energy monitoring so it may be something new if the CA3750 does not.
It was sitting 5ft from me for 3 days, sorry I don’t have more information or a model number.
I can’t answer the question about where they are coming from, but I was delighted they were available again. I bought one for my pool pump and it works like a charm. I could have accomplished Z-wave control of the pool pump in any of several other ways, but this was a thing of beauty because it was an exact replacement for my mechanical Intermatic timer box so I didn’t have to change any of the four conduits that ran to the existing box. It was dead easy to swap them out and it functions flawlessly.
I had just rushed and bought 5 of them a few weeks ago when I saw them available. I am using them to switch 277V lighting in a large textile plant. Nice to see them brought back. I hope they stick around as there realy is no alternative that I have found.
