Can't see Vera 2 on LAN

@ inveltr - Very impressed with HomeWave, really like the configurability.

However, for some reason I can’t figure out, I can’t access my Vera 2 over Wifi via the ADSL modem. Vera 2 is hardwired to the modem and I’ve always been able to connect with it over the modem wifi connection. I started using HomeWave a couple of weeks ago, initially just using a wifi connection without any issues. I then was away for a couple of days and entered in the Mios username and password and was able to connect remotely. But when I got back I found I was no longer able to access V2 over the modem LAN on Wifi? I can still access it remotely and I can access it over wifi if I’m connected to the V2 wifi but not the modem wifi? I have a second V2 on the same modem LAN (which I don’t remotely access) and its continued to work normally other than it can no longer see a Vistacam that connects with the first V2 over its wifi. Its like the V2 is operating on a different subnet but I 've checked the modem and Vera’s OpenWrt settings and they all seem normal.

I don’t think its a HomeWave issue but it appears something changed when I remotely accessed via Mios on the iPhone. I’ve previously connected remotely without issue using Authomation on an Android phone. Any ideas would be appreciated.

There’s been a few others who have had trouble accessing their Vera on LAN, especially when there are multiple subnets involved. Older versions of the app would always try the LAN IP first, incurring a few seconds delay when connecting remotely. I’ll bring that back as an option.

Trying the LAN first would seem like a good option but that would not fix my problem: I can’t communicate with Vera when connected via the Router Wifi even though I can still communicate with it externally over the internet. If I switch over and connect using Vera’s Wifi I can communicate locally but I prefer to use the Router Wifi as it has a stronger signal. I don’t use subnets and don’t sppear to have one from what I can see on the Router’s and Vera’s status panels but I don’t know why Vera now can’t be assessed after it has worked fine for +2 years?

In principle, your Vera’s WiFi network consitutes a different subnet. Check Vera’s IP address in the settings for HomeWave. Is this the IP address for Vera on its own WiFi, or is it the address it has on your LAN? In case it’s the first, change it to Vera’s LAN address.

You may find the IP address is changed back automatically, this is because HomeWave updates it with the info from MiOS, and your Vera may report the wrong IP address. In that case: set the right IP address manually, and also enable the “Ignore MiOS Settings” option
