Can't Login suddenly

Hello all, I’ve just run into an issue today as I was going to check a couple things on my Vera setup before I added some devices this weekend. I haven’t logged in to my vera in a few weeks and today I’m unable to do so. On my computer it says my information is incorrect even though I know it to be so. I thought to do a forgot password, but when I enter my user name, it says password reset failure.

That leads me to check the app on my phone which stores my info. Instead of starting up, it has me at the login screen and I’ve previously selected to have my information remembered. I click show my password just to see if I’m insane and it’s exactly what I knew it was. Try to login and it fails. Frustrating…and no idea what’s going on.

I can’t login either…

Same here 8-(

Tried a password reset and even that failed…

I was in the middle of a heal… 8-(

Well that makes me feel better lol

Not for you, but that it’s not just me. The forgot password doesn’t work either. Just says password reset failure no matter whether you use ID or email.

Just called Vera - they say they had to do a system change. Should be up “soon”

I told them ok but would be nice to get notified somehow… They say they notify on facebook?

I am having the same issue, must be a system problem

I’m having the same issue. I thought it was me since I just set up my NEW Vera Lite yesterday after my first started having all kinds of issues that support couldn’t resolve. When I try to log in through the Android app it tells me that it’s the wrong username/password when it’s not and when I try to log in via my computer it forwards me to cp.mios.com and then says it can’t communicate with my unit which I expected since my unit is on UI7, not 5.

I also cannot login today using home.getvera.com or the android app. I can get to my controller using the IP address so I can still play. I just got set up this week so I have been playing a lot! lol

I upgraded to UI7 yesterday and having issues. Just got off of a support call. They are having system issues and think it will be up soon. I thought it was because of my upgrade, but I guess not.

Chris

I can’t login either on UI6 or UI7 boxes web nor app. For UI5 it still works.

I guess some system issue at their end so we have to be patient and create a ticket for support.

It is not related to any updates you just may have done as I haven’t done any in the last weeks.

Cheers Rene

Vera is promoted for not only automation, but security and monitoring. There should never be a point we can’t login to our system. Makes using Vera for more than just a hobby pretty scary.

There has been an official announcement regarding this. It was last minute and the reason is rather dubious, based on the announcement’s short notice, but there it is.

Guys,

Don’t pannic…Vera servers are down due to server/network maintenance http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,31701.0.html

It wouldn’t be so bad if it was an isolated incident. But this is the third service outage in the last 30 days. Not exactly a “good” availability number. A webhost with that kind of downtime would be out of business in a hurry. Anyone have a link to a “best practices” write-up for operating without the MCV servers?

Despite their posting saying that service is now over, I can’t login either. ERROR: 4bc5c6503b.

I fail to see what the big deal about a few server outages in the last month is. These brief outages were non-existent with UI5 and if they need to occur every now and again to make UI7, or the architecture as a whole more robust and reliable, I welcome an occasional outage.

While I recognize there are shortcomings and frustrations with the Vera product as a whole, one thing they definitely got right is that the system is not server/cloud dependent. It can operate all your devices and execute all your scenes without having to “phone home”.

Maybe I don’t understand some particular use case(s), but why do you consider remote access so critical? That “need”, to me, makes Vera less of an automation system and more of a glorified remote control.

On the VeraEdge, the Geofence doesn’t work because the app on my phone can’t connect to my controller when the server is down. I am not worried about the server being down every once in a while. I work in IT so I know that servers can and will go down. I am still not able to log in, unless I use my controller’s IP address on my home network, but as long as the rest of my devices are working like they should, I am fine with the geofence not working until they get everything up and running again.

I guess it depends on how you use the system. Many of us don’t just rely on Vera for automation and the main reason we put in Vera was to use it as a “glorified remote control”…
While the Vera service is down the following things do not work:

  • no notifications. So those relying on Vera to alert them when events occur become ‘blind’
  • inability to remotely make changes to your system. E.g. let’s say I needed to change the temperature?
  • inability to remotely control your system. E.g. let’s say I needed to unlock or lock a door or add/remove a PIN code.
  • no remote access to my video cameras.

Those that use 3rd party notification services (as provided by the Vera Alerts Plugin and a few others) still get notifications when MCV servers are down.

Those of us that use VPN’s (or SSH tunnel) to connect our mobile device to our Home Local Area Network and use 3rd party Remote control apps that allow configuring a local port (I use AutomationHD and my personal apps) have full secure remote control and video access.

You do not NEED MCV servers.

Well if Vera feels that we should not rely on the MCV servers then they should document all of the above steps so that the average user knows how to setup in such a way that we are not relying on them.
