can't include devices previously associated to my veralite

my veralite died and i couldn’t get it reset (read:I just don’t have the time to fiddle around) so I bit the bullet and bought a vera3.

now I had to upgrade to UI7, which is a separate issue,

but I can’t seem to include the devices I had previously included with my veralite. for example, my Jasco 45609 and Intermatic switched receptacle HA01 won’t include when I follow the normal inclusion procedure.

I just need to know if anyone has seen a situation like this in the past. I’ll open a ticket w/ Vera, but they’re pretty slow in responding usually.

The inability to include will almost certainly be resolved by first excluding the device, then including.

But, if you have a lot of devices, there may be a better way. If it were me, I would contact support and get your new Vera reverted to the same firmware version that you had before. Then, I’d restore a backup form the old version onto the new Vera, and you’ll be back to where you were before with the old one. ** This assumes that you performed a Z-Wave network backup that included all of your installed devices. If not, then you’ll still have to exclude and include.

I don’t remember whether I did a network backup or not. I’ll ask their support team for help.

I think the problem with excluding is going to be that my veralite has turned into a paperweight…

Any Z-Wave controller, including your new Vera 3 can exclude a device. You do not need the original including controller to exclude a device. If you did, then all of your devices, in this case, would be a total loss that you’d have to throw in the garbage.
