Can't Access Vera Lite through CP.MIOS.COM

For some reason, I cannot access one of my Vera Lites through CP.MIOS.COM any longer. When I login, I get the screen showing my two Veras. I can select the one in my vacation home, and access it just fine. But when I select the one in my primary home, it goes back to the login screen every time. I can, however, access the unit when I’m at home by going directly to its IP address. I checked all the settings, and can’t find anything that would indicate remote access has somehow been disabled. Nothing in my home network setup has changed.

Any ideas/suggestions would be most appreciated.

Assuming you are using Ui5.

Login to the Vera dashboard locally
Go to the SETUP tab
Go to Net & Wifi tab
Click Troubleshoot network button
Any errors one the report? Especially for the ‘testing external servers’ part? Like the STA, EVT, TS and FWD servers?

Thank you. Unfortunately, I’m now away for the weekend, so I won’t be able to perform the check you suggest until I’m back Sunday evening, but I’ll give that a try.

Under Net&Wifi, verify the Vera firewall is set to disable… You may need to change to Manually Configure to see this.

@BOFH - I ran the troubleshoot network report, and the only errors I got were DNSSERVER1 & DNSSERVER2 - for some reason those are set to weird IP addresses. DNSSERVER3 tested OK, as did access to all the external servers.

@Brientim - when I click the “Manually Configure” radio button, I don’t see any setting for a Vera firewall.

Another weird finding - this weekend when I was away, I obviously still couldn’t access Vera in my primary home through CP.MIOS.COM (UI5). However, I could access it using the iVera app on my iPhone. Does that point to anything obvious?

Any chance you can post those addresses? I’m wondering if they may be IPv6 instead of IPv4 and there is a resolution issue through cp.mios.com. I’ve seen issues like that at work lately as well and disabling IPv6 on the Win7 boxes (Our internal private network is IPv4) resolved the issues with shared printers.

@BOFH - I was mis-reading the DNS IP addresses, they were actually correct according to my router. So I don’t think that was the problem. However, to be sure, I went into my router and disabled everything ipV6 related (the automatic settings + the firewall) and tried again with the same result. That’s not surprising, as I haven’t changed anything with my router since well before this problem surfaced. Very frustrating.

That was going to be a long shot: the OpenWrt that runs on Vera doesn’t have IPv6 enabled. Vera knows as much about IPv6 as it does about AppleTalk: nothing.

See attached screenshot. It is located in the second group.

@Brientim

Here’s what mine looks like…is it because I have a Vera Lite (not a Vera 3) that I don’t have a Firewall setting?

I totally forgot about the Veralite and no it does not have the same configuration as the Vera 3. There have been a number of users reporting connection issues lately and they have only been resolved after logging a support request.

@Brientim - thanks, I actually just finished submitting a support ticket. I hope they get back to me.

So I never heard back regarding the support ticket I submitted this past Friday, but mysteriously remote access to my Vera Lite through CP.MIOS.COM is working again. I changed absolutely nothing in my home network or on the Vera. I hope this was a fluke and it continues to work.

it’s not a fluke. this crap happens every so often for no apparent reason. I too experience it with my veralite. and I can assure you that nothing changed regarding my router configuration or my router’s IP. this is extremely frustrating and is seriously making me consider dumping vera. everything about this unit is “go to the forum and hope someone who also didn’t create the product has developed a fix.” it can last 6 hours or 6 days. it’s unacceptable. iunno what I’m gonna do. maybe check out IRIS system? iunno. grrrr. want to break something! :frowning:
