Cannot seem to include a device

Hi

I have a Veralite that I have had for a while, it has an Aeon Labs Z-stick lite connected via USB as I am in Australia. Up until now I have not had any z-wave devices, I have been using the Veralite to integrate with my security system and IP cameras which works fine.

I now have a Z-wave device, an Aeon Labs Smart Energy Switch, which I cannot seem to get included. My controller is running the latest firmare (1.7.439) as is my Z-stick. In the Z-wave settings, I have specified /dev/ttyUSB0 as the port number and Vera does not show an error (it does if I set that value incorrectly). I access Vera and use the add device wizard, press the button on my switch twice and it does not detect. At this point I figured maybe either the switch or the Z-stick might be faulty, so I removed the Z-stick and plugged it into my PC along with using “Incontrol HA server”. Using this I can include, control and exclude the switch just fine. In this state I can also place the Z-stick back into Vera and it does see a device, but it cannot control it.

What can I do to include the device?

This sounds like a radio communication issue. Is there metal between the Vera and the Smart Energy Switch that could be blocking the signal? Is the Vera further away from the smart Energy switch than your PC? Can you move Vera, at least temorarily, closer to teh Smart Energy Switch and see if Vera is then able to control it?

Hi

For setup purposes I am plugging the smart switch in right next to my Veralite, so range should not be an issue you would think. I see nowadays I can buy a Veralite with inbuilt AU frequency, I don’t want to replace the controller if I do not have to
