Cannot include new Aeon Door/Window sensor

Getting ready for a classic garage door automation project. Got the door/window sensor from Aeon today. I went to include it into my Vera2 UI5 network but no luck. I tried 15 different ways and multiple times.

I tried through the UI and pressing the tamper switch. I tried pressing and holding, pressing and releasing, etc. The vera zwave light goes to blinking a second at a time like it’s should then I see it blink rapidly after pressing the tamper switch and then to off. After this, I would think that it’s included but vera says no new devices.

The LED on the sensor blinks like it should when its included too.

Anyone else know the trick to get this to happen?

Did you try to exclude it first?

I tried excluding it but the device does not show in the UI to exclude. It’s not obvious how to exclude with the instruction for the sensor.

What’s odd is that I push the include/tamper switch on the sensor and vera blinks rapidly like it’s being added but the sensor never shows in the UI as a device. In fact, the wizard in the UI says No devices were added.

It shouldn’t be this hard to add a device. I’ve done dozens of other devices with this same vera.

Has anyone else included an AEON D/W sensor to UI5? What steps did you use?

I included 2 with Vera2 UI5 easily, doing exactly what you did.

  • Put Vera in include (or exclude - the steps are the same)
  • Press and release the tamper switch
(I don’t know about the Aeon ones, but with Everspring, if I press/release too quickly it won’t register)

Maybe your’s needs different batteries? Or maybe it is defective?

Why Vera’s light would flutter like it’s doing something when nothing changes is beyond me. Do you see anything in the logs?

To wake the sensor up, you have to tap the switch 3 times. Maybe try that? Perhaps they changed something in the firmware?

Found the issue… The vera was unable to go into Learn mode - looked at the logs and saw this. I read many other posts with the same issue. It appears to be a known issue with zwave.

Anyway, i was already on 3.2 for zwave; i converted from 2.78 many months ago. Some of the other posts said to do the hack to 3.2. Did that, took a while and then included and it worked great.

Now I know when my garage door is open. Works great.

Next is to add my lfm-20 to open and close my garage door remotely.
