HI ALL,
I already have a wireless network and also have the Veralite UI5. Camera works cabled up to the network. I use WEP 64 bit. I logged into the camera and put in my network SSID and the key. I have the use wireless box checked. Removed power to camera and plugged it back in. Can’t ping the camera at all when I could when it was wired.
Something “special” I need to do? This is just straight networking without involving Veralite. It should connect.

Had the same issue with two Foscams on different networks. They are a pain in the neck to get on wireless. Just keep doing what your doing… I know that sounds like no help. But honestly it is what I did and it finally “stuck” and then I was wireless.
It seams more a router issue. I’ve two Foscam and a Tenvis Hd and no problems with my privat router while I used to have problems with the rented router from the Isp.

Still have no luck, tried a few times. No other device has problems with my router. Kind of annoyed I bought these Vistacam’s now. Once again it looks like I need to contact support.
Anybody else have any suggestions? For what it’s worth I have FIOS Internet.

How do you know what ip address to ping? How is the ip address specified when selecting “use wireless” in the camera? Will the ip address be the same as when the “wired” option is selected?
-
If the camera specifies “use DHCP” so that the camera will go to your router and get an ip address, what are the settings in the router for doling out ip addresses? And can the router see the wireless camera? If so, what ip address did the router give the camera?
Just a couple of thoughts …
Paul
I had the same problem with my HD cam. Turned out my passkey (password) was too long (14char). I created a separate network and made the passkey 10 char and it worked just fine.
Thanks guys for the suggestions, thoughts. Have not replied as I work away from home 4 days a week. Paul, good points and I was going to get into the router to try and see what IT is seeing, just never got to it. My WEP key is 10 char, so that may not be the issue.
Thanks.
I have this same issue. Wired works good, but when I remove the LAN cable, not camera goes offline. Did you get your issue resolved?
I had this exact same issue when trying to set up my Vistacam. I had to eventually contact tech support. (They were fabulous by the way.) This is the response I got from them:
[i]Hi,
I’ve managed to connec to your Vera and I’ve checked the settings. It seems that your Vera is not in the same network as your cameras. Your Vera has the IP address : 192.168.50.XX and the cameras have the IP: 192.168.0.XXX. This is the reason why the cameras are not working with Vera. They must be connected to the same router as your Vera or you can try to connect the cameras directly to Vera.
Best regards.

Something I had done while monkeying around had changed the settings. Once Vera was set up to just run off of my router rather than also act as a wifi router, all was good. I haven’t had a single problem with the camera.
I hope this helps. It’s frustrating, I know. :-\
I struggled with this also - a couple things I found out:
- WiFi password has to be shorter than 11 char (already mentioned above)
- WiFi name cannot contain spaces, and may have a character limit also. I shortened my SSID to 3 characters.
Once I changed these settings, I did the “switch to WiFi” process again, saved the settings, and unplugged LAN/power. It came back up w/ no issues and has been good ever since.
Best of luck…
