Can you use the Fibaro 2x1,5KW Relay Switch to Control Gate Motors

Hi,

I am trying to wire up the Fibaro 2x1.5KW rela to control my gate motors but I’m unsure how to wire it into the board.
I am using a centurion Gate Controller which runs of 12V DC but the way I see it is that the Fibaro Relay requires 220V power supply. How do I wire it to make sure I don’t input 220V into my control unit and blow it?

Thanking you in advance.

As long as the gate motors don’t draw more than 8 amps maximum you should be OK. Connect the mains voltage to L and N, and if you want to use the local switch option the switches should switch live mains onto connections S1 and/or S2. The volt-free contacts switch IN to O1 and/or O2, so the +12v gate supply would go to IN and your gate motors would be connected to O1 and/or O2 on the positive side and your -12v supply on the negative side.

Hi there.

Thanks for the quick response@ racarter.
The relay switch is in place and is operational… well sort of.

I programmed a scene into the vera 3 … when i start scene from the vera to open the gate, the gate opens to half way and then stops .
i then set another scene where i say gate open and close.and this seems to open the gate the rest of the way, i can close the gate fully with no problem…however.
there are no other settings on the board itself that i can change .
I then realised the the gate motor needs a pulse… OFF/ON 12v/OFF to be sent to the relay not a continuous ON that it’s getting now…
(and i spoke to the gate company specialist who confirmed it.)

my question is how do i do this ?
I read the install manual that came with the fibaro relay and found this…and im interested in parameter 3 and 4.

V Configuration
The following settings are available in the Fibaro interface as simple
options that may be chosen by selecting the appropriate box
In order to configure Fibaro Switch (using the Home Center
controller), go to device options by clicking the following icon:

Parameter no. 3 - Automatic turning off relay after set time
default value 0
Available configuration parameters:
0 - Auto OFF disabled for both relays
1 - Auto OFF enabled for relay no. 1. disabled for relay no. 2.
2 - Auto OFF disabled for relay no. 1. enabled for relay no. 2.
3 - Auto OFF enabled for both relays
Parameter no. 4 - Time after witch relay is automatically turned
off.
default value 200 (200ms)
Available configuration parameters:
[1- 255] (10ms – 2,5s) time after relay is automatically turned off.

I am interested in settting these configurations through the vera console…can it be done? where do i do it ? and how?

sorry this is so long!
many thanks for the help so far!

On the Fibaro device on Vera, go to Device Options and click Add Configuration Settings. ::slight_smile:

Alternatively, leave the Fibaro as it is and just have your Open Gates scene do it. In other words, the scene would switch on the Fibaro, delay 2 seconds (or whatever time you choose) then switch off the Fibaro.

thank you, will try it tonight.
