Can vera's installed on different networks be operated from one MIOS dashboard?

I use a Vera3 at my main home. I was hoping to home automate my summer cottage with a Vera3 and bought one for that purpose.

However, I would really love it if both Vera’s could be controlled from the same MIOS dashboard? Is that possible? (Each house has its own internet connection and network, and obviously I can’t get the Dashboard which is set up for my home network to “automatically” find a new Vera in a different network?)

I got a response from MCV chat support.
They say: to use 2 Vera3’s on 2 different networks, you have to first connect them both to the same network. After installing the first unit in your account, it will automatically recognize the second unit and allow you to install it into the same MIOS account. They also say that you can then remove the second Vera3 and take it to a different location on a different network and it will work fine and be accessible from your one MIOS dashboard.

Well that sounds good (although I wish I had known this before I drove 8hours to my second Vera’s new home?).

However, it seems like there was a different solution where you didn’t need to have both units on the same network. In this post: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?topic=17908.0, the OP seems to have been able to register his second Veralite unit to the MIOS account established for his first Veralite unit, while he was at his second location.

I would like to try this, although now that I have installed/registered my second Vera unit, I can’t figure out how to access my first unit. All attempts to access my MIOS account take me to the new second vera account which I initially (and in retrospect should not have) created.
I will have to see if there is a way to go back and remove the second account for the second Vera unit in order to test this…

Why the dashboard?
Don’t you control everything from a tablet or a phone? Mios dashboard or sitting behind a computer I find is not a great interface. For setup and such it is needed and works. But the user interface is much nicer on a tablet our phone. Those allow you to inter mix both vera’s into one. From there you would never know they weren’t in the same place.

Need to explain more what you want. When you login (you should only have 1 login and password) it brings you to a window showing both of your devices. You then choose and go different directions to each of those devices.

Is this what you have already? Or is this what your trying to get?

@gymshoe,

On UI5, you get to associate a new Vera with a MiOS account (or multiple, if you want); I don’t think it matters where you do this (in relation to the location of the other Vera’s on that account). Your MiOS account then knows where to find these Vera’s (i.e. keeps track of their external IP’s).

When logged in through MiOS, you should be able to select any of your registered Vera’s. However, you cannot blend it into one UI/Dashboard (let alone doing that across a mix of UI versions (UI5/UI6/UI7)).

As @integlikewhoa said, the 3rd party apps may allow such control.

Thanks for the comments. I have mostly been working on setting things up at my computer. I will have to explore using tablet/phone. Now that I have it setup, I see how you have to select which dashboard (which Vera) you want to use after you login to your one account. In my other post, I explain why I was having problems with this. Thanks for X-ref’ing oTi@ (I should have done that myself).
