Can Vera accept Trigger output from Panasonic Camera?

My 3 Panasonic cameras (BB-HCM531A) have the ability to record on motion and I would like to turn on a light when the camera is recording. Since they are outdoor cameras, adding another z-wave motion sensor for the food lights is not an option. The flood light motion sensors don’t work very well and trigger a lot of false recording by the camera. The camera has the ability to output an open/closed contact on the motion trigger. How can Vera input that event?

If you have an open/closed contact output from the camera, as you say, you can look into Hawking HRDS1 Door/Window sensor, which can accept external closure contact input.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked out the installation instructions on the Hawking sensor and don’t see how I would connect the wires from the camera. The door sensor uses a magnet to open and close the circuit which is internal to the sensor. There are no contact terminals to attach wires to. I initially thought of using such a sensor, but couldn’t figure out how to make the connections.

I was hoping Vera could read the trigger event at the camera since there is a Panasonic plugin, but I have not been able to get my cameras to work with Vera yet, so have not been able to check that out either. I have a trouble ticket in on the plugin.

There are contact terminals, see attached picture with the battery cover taken off.

Also, search the forum - people are using it this way…

OK, thanks, I’ll give it a try.
