I am setting up my Vera2 with my existing ThinkEssentials program. I have noticed that I have to: “I am now going to try resetting the device. Please activate the device”, reset my devices, which will now not work with the ThinkEssentials program on my computer. I believe that this in the long run will not be a problem since I will be using SquareConnect on my IPad as the controls for this system. The real problem is that I have to use Option #1 to pair the controllers. This is fine if I can bring the units to the Vera. I can’t do this with my light switches, ect. Option #2 will not work. (I am assuming because I have to reset each and every device)
Not sure how to get the items that are in the walls paired.
Thanks,
Victor
Devices can only be paired to one controller (i.e. either ThinkEssentials or Vera). Each device must be excluded first before it can be paired with Vera. You can either use the battery with Vera to both exclude and include each device or you can try full power excludes and includes.
Full power is under add/remove device, Hit Next under z-wave, then at the bottom, fill out the fields for wither include/exclude and make sure that full power is set.
I"ve tried the Controller shift and could not get it to work. I believe that you have to include the Controller to ThinkEssentials first which I have tried. Not sure if there is a way to put the Vera2 in a pairing mode to pair with TE. Any clues?
This would be nice in lieu of going to each and every unit!
Go to Vera’s dashboard, click the +! (Add/Remove devices)
Z-Wave “Next”
3rd tab down “For battery operated devices” Click “Add one”
On TE. Goto “Settings” Click on “Join or recover another network” You will see the message “Switching to another network will reset the ThinkStick” Click OK.
Vera will wait for TE, and TE will be added as a device.
Confirm this part and then you can transfer Primary to Vera.
Well I spent enouigh time last night looking at the forum, and plenty of time today wiping out
what I did yesterday and started over to know that the there are 2 differant documents that state 2 differant things. I can tell you that I’m fairly sure that that there is nothing in the Vera software that will transfer a primary controller over to Vera so it can be the primary with an existing network. When I tried the “Controller Shift” It changed it to a slave controller and then the PRI: was NO, so I couldn’t even pair or delete any units.
I would hope that the Software Gods hear this and change this so that it works for the next guy. :o
A controller shift (or equivalent) is what you would choose on the primary controller side, to transfer the network information from the primary to the secondary and subsequently shift the primary role to that secondary.
Copy Z-Wave network from a master controller is what you choose on Vera to be included into another network. It depends on the action chosen, that is a regular include, or a controller shift, on the primary controller as to whether Vera will become a secondary or primary, respectively.
Sounds like you have TE as primary and want to shift that role to Vera.
So, try this:
On Vera: Copy Z-Wave network from a master controller
In TE: Transfer primary role to another controller (i.e. a controller shift)
(Disclaimer: I normally have TE as secondary and sometimes transfer the network back to Vera via a controller shift; as such, they are already in the same network. You may have to include Vera into TE first (so she’s a secondary), then do the shift.)
