I have just purchased a bunch of Linear Dimmer switches (wall Mount). Does anyone know if I can make these only on/off (Dimmer capabilities disabled)? I would like to do this only in Manual control (ie: press the switch and it fully goes on or off, holding the up or down does not brighten or dim the light). I don’t really care if I can enable or disable this feature in Dashboard…however if it is possible, how do I do it there?
As well, is it possible to increase the time it takes to have the light go full on and full off when manually pressing the switch and by activating it in Dashboard?
This is my first time using Zwave devices, so I have no clue of its capabilities.
I am very familiar with Lutron Maestro and RadioRa2 dimmers. I bought 1 Linear 500W dimmer to test and also I placed an order for a Zwave gateway that will communicate with my URC Total Control devices. Since I have not received my gateway, I am not able to fully test this dimmer.
So here is my question:
Is it possible to change the Ramp rate of the Linear dimmers (fade on or fade off effect) in the programming?
I have about 18 Lutron Maestro dimmers, and about 10 of them have a Fade on and off times at 5 seconds. It creates a very nice effect.
Right now, operating the Linear dimmer manually, the rate is too fast. I don’t really like it. I am hoping I can change this setting in the programming.
I have mostly Cooper and some Leviton dimmer. Both have configurable ramp rate. I don’t know about others, but what I’d suggest is to download some instructions from any dimmers you’re interested in and see if its programmable. Both of the dimmers I have instructions on how to do it, although on the Coopers you have to buy one of their branded controllers to do it. The Leviton can be adjusted through sequences of button presses.
That sucks. I will play around with it as soon as I receive the gateway. In my point of view, it is not worth paying $100+ for a zwave dimmer. $35 dollars for a dimmer is a great deal if you just want to have basic functions.
A RadioRa2 LED dimmer for a few dollars more would be a better option.
