I have a Evolve LFM-20’s relay on each of my hot water baseboard heating zones. So my VeraLite can call on heat for each zone if I want it to, or Vera programming calls for it.
One thing I want to do is use my Vera so if temps outside go below 10 degrees I can make sure my two upstairs heating zones run periodically (for 15 min. or so) as an extra safety to make sure pipes don’t freeze.
But when I use a Trigger (Outside Temp below 10) and a Schedule (Every 2 Hours) how can I configure the Scene to use a “logical AND” and not a “logical OR”? Now, if either the Trigger or Schedule is True the Scene runs. I want the Scene to run only when both events are True.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to set this up?
Thanks. Being able to do custom programming will come in handy. I left my 3 old round mechanical (very reliable) thermostats in place (as a backup) to take over in case we away and there is any kind of failure of the home controller they will at least call for heat on the hot water baseboard if its cold out. But a couple years ago I also installed a high-effeciency Daiken mini-split HVAC system (with 4 zones), for cooling in summer and heat most of the time (the gas boiler only being called on during really cold nights and days). Programing the system for certain sets of circumstances will let me optimize efficiency (and get the cheapest heating).
I also just ordered a Remotec ZXT-120 IR Extender to try out, to control a Daiken head unit, and give me (and the Vera) temperature feedback. Assuming the 1st one works as planned I’ll add three more, one for each of the other Daiken head units and rooms. So for first floor and each of the three bedrooms upstairs I’ll have temp feedback and control of each of the 4 mini-split HVAC head units. Again, letting me turn down heat in un-used rooms, to save $$.
Further down the road I’ll be adding control of my solar collect and solar hot water tank, and maybe even adding a several-hundred-gallon insulated water box/tank that will store the excess heat from the hot water solar collector(s) after hot water tank is up to temp. The stored heat in this box/tank will then be able to be drawn upon to feed the hot water baseboards (to hopefully reduce making heat with the ductless system and boiler to an absolute minimum…saving more $$$ ).
Thanks,
Jeff
