We know about the limited memory resources on VeraLite. Accordingly, I have moved logging to the plugged in USB memory.
I am about to enable a motion-triggered 20-second video recording. Where is this recording stored? If it usually stored internally to VeraLite, can it be set to automatically store the recording (and image snapshots) to the USB memory? Or, does it do this automatically when USB memory is plugged in and mounted?

There is no way to store it locally and not nearly enough local storage if there was a way.

Thank you. As I read the description for Vera Alerts “Send a short video clip of the camera identified by DeviceID and associate it with the alert. Note you can run Vera out of memory quickly … I recommend you keep these short”, I am confused to what memory to which it refers. Does Vera Alerts take its own video and store it on the device?
This is what I did in UI5 and trying to make UI7 do.
I set the camera to take 3 pic’s pr. sek. for 2 sek.
2 to 4 pic’s are uploaded to phone or vera cloud.
I have a poor bandwidth and 30 sec of video would NEVER be uploaded to my phone + it would cost me…
I don’t know to set this up in vera plus UI7 (any help…please ?)
vera plus seems to take 30 sek as standard but I would not be able to send it to a friend …or police, if necessary. It would take hours.
Just to find the right sequence will take time in UI5 the thumbnails was large enough to view what was going on and I could clik on an arrow to see the next picture.
in ui7 I have to view 30 sec’s an open and close evry single.
This is a step backwards.

In order to send pictures to your phone via VeraAlerts, Vera has to collect a few frames or a short clip, package it with other alert details, and upload it to the Google Apps server used by the VeraAlerts plugin. This will cause Vera’s memory consumption to balloon, even if it is only briefly. .(These are my assumptions. @RichardTSchaefer can correct me if I’m mistaken.)
Vera Lite is resource constrained and being out of memory is a common issue with only a few plugins installed, so adding pictures/video and attaching them to notifications can cause Vera’s memory to be exhausted and you’ll experience lockups and reboots, as well as not receive the alerts
Pictures and video are a great idea. But, Vera Lite is not up the task. It is my opinion that no Vera is up to the task of effectively managing pictures and video and that video should be handled by a dedicated DVR or, if you must, cloud service.
Again, no pictures or video are stored on Vera.
