I am tired of my newly bought Foscan FI9821W V2; Motion detection and PTZ doesn’t work properly in my Vera. Fail buy :frowning:

Are there any other cameras out there that actually works with Vera ? (PTZ / Motion Sensor is a must).

I’ve got a 9831W and that is, what I know, the same camera except for recording angle. Had a bit of struggle before it came alive put PT works now (no Z in these cams). Presets are stupid, since 1-4 cant be adjusted, thus this plugin should start from 5 and up (showing them as 1-8)
Haven’t come to motion detection yet - search for it is why I saw your post.

Don’t remeber where I saw how to set it up but make shure of these settings.
Set your cam to a fixed IP in router - I hadn’t first and it changed :frowning:

But you have probably already installed the plug so…
In Vera, your camera click the wrench, goto settings page. Set the following.

  1. URL = /cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture2&usr=[username]&pwd=[password]
  2. User = [username]
  3. Password = [password]
    Change [username] and [password] as in your cam setttings in both places.
    Here I made a user acount in foscam settings, so I don’t use admin account in Vera. The above URL should some how be different, to reflect/insert the user/password from User and Paasword fields, but I don’t care to find what it should be, since I don’t change 'em anymore.
  4. Make shure NOT to enter any MAC-adress, i.e. leave field EMPTY.
  5. Set ip-adress and portnumber 192.168.0.XX:5001 (for test better set portnuber on cam to 80)

Goto advanced page and check.

  1. device_file = D_DigitalSecurityCamera2.xml
  2. impl_file = I_Foscam98HD.xml
    You better know if you installed them.

D_DigitalSecurityCamera2.xml is the standardization for the camera controls this is not something that is specific to Foscams. Since there is a large amount of different cameras, it is almost impossible to support every option or remove what is not needed. MCV has provided us with the basic controls that most will need. Hence they have provided upto 8 different presets. You use only what is needed, but the 8 will still show.

I did manage to get P & T to work - however - still no motion detection.

Does that work on the 9831 ? (my goal is to program PLEG to make an action when motion is detected).

got P & T to work on my 9810. Motion detection works but haven’t gotten it to work THROUGH Vera yet. Meaning I can get an alert from Foscam but not from my vera system.

I’m not sure if there are workarounds for that. I’ve read that blue iris can send motion alerts to Vera.
