Calibration of DC1-ZW

I have started a roller shade automation project using Rollertrol motors and the DC1-Zw controller. I have them mounted and the limits set so they function well with the full up and down function. The Vera device shows a slider but I can’t seem to figure out how to get the setup calibrated so the controller will respond to the slider. I can see from the DC1-ZW documentation that it will only respond to intermediate setting commands if it has been calibrated and I can see from the limited controller documentaion that you hold the open and close buttons for 5 seconds to initiate a calibration sequence. When I do this the shade moves to the other max setting but it seems to have no effect on being able to use the slider to control the shade postion.

I am pretty sure that I should be able to have intermediate settings but can’t figure it out, any help would be great!

Thanks!

I think you are doing it correctly. You might try removing (un-including) the device in Vera using add/remove. Then add it again. Alternatively you might just try re-configuring that node and let it trade info again.

The Z-Wave motor controller uses the Multi-level switch class in Z-Wave, so it acts like a lighting dimmer in VERA. The sliders in VERA have never worked well, but it should work.

Let us know if this helps.

Thanks for your comments Shady. I was able to get back to this after the holiday and tried removing and re-adding the controller but it didn’t help. I was also able to add another motor controller to the setup on a second bank of windows and it acts the same >:(

I think at ths point it must be software related as two sets of hardware act the same so I will open a ticket and see what tech support has to say unless anyone has any other ideas of what to try.

Let us know if they offered any solution to your problem.

I would think the hardware isn’t the problem since it usually isn’t, and especially since you saw the same behavior in two separate controllers.
