I am trying to set up a CA9000 to turn on the kitchen lights when anyone enters the room. Both the CA600 and the CA9000 show up in my devices tab, but that is about as far as I’ve gotten. After much experimenting, I decided to repair the network which turned the icon from red to green and gave me a battery status indicator. I thought I was in the “promised land” at that point, but boy was I wrong.
I created a scene with the motion sensor as a trigger to turn on the CA600. The switch is about 8 ft. from the sensor. The motion sensor is directly below the Vera3, which is located on the second floor. I would guess that they are 8 ft. apart. I just ran a stress test and it stated that 0 pings were successful out of 10 attempted and 0 of 10 direct pings were successful. It did return 10 polls were sucessful out of 10.
Is 8 ft. too far apart for this device to communicate? Also can someone explain the 1800 sec. wake up interval on the settings tab? I would expect this sensor to trigger the lights and keep them on as long as it sees someone in its path (radiating heat). I am also not sure what the mode switch means. If set to 5 minutes, will it automatically send a “0” off to the CA600? Any help would be appreciated.
As a follow up, I just now learned what information configured at and neighbors provides. I made 2 adjustments to my original setup. The first was to remove the CA9000 from its location and PLACE IT ON TOP OF THE VERA. Yes, I actually set it on top of the unit itself. The second change was to add 9V power supply. Between the 2 actions, I actually got configured at and neighbors information. However, even on top of the unit, stress tests report 0 successful pings I’m hesitant to suspect the CA9000 as being at fault, since I just went through a similar exercise, along with a 2 week wait for a response from technical support, to find out that Vera3/UI5 is not working with the USBUIRT. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have installed a CA9000 in my stairwell for detecting motion on the stairwell or any entry into building from door that leeds to stairwell. No problem. After including device into vera3, I made a scene and called it motion ,for this purpose, and then set the trigger to pickup the ca9000. I also have a light module that I selected as the device for this scene to operate. The Sensor sets about 20ft from my vera3, and everything operates quite well so far. Now for me I also set a “off” delay to turn light offafter motion is detected. Now I set the switch on the bottom of the ca9000 to pluse and this all works for me.
Place the sensor in place…use the portable battery to move vera in order to include the sensor
Remember…if the red light is blinking…the sensor is OFF!!!..(not a very smart design)
Change the “Automatically configure” parameter to yes on settings tab…it helped me a lot…improved stability
Set the delay according to your needs (the label is inside the CA9000…another not too smart design)…i use pulse as mntlvr said, it tells vera when changes in movement detection occurs inmediatly.
My configuration for automated on/off lights based on motion is
1 scente to turn lights on using (armed) sensor tripped trigger.
Device: #XX Sensor
What type of event is the trigger?: An armed sensor is tripped
Name for this trigger: Sensor armed tripped
Device Armed is tripped
for turn off…same parameters except:
*Delay 30 secs to start scene
Device armed is NOT tripped
This way, vera turns on lights when sensor detects movement…and turn lights off 30 secs after it detecs no movement.
Hope this helps…Took me like 2 days to make this worki as i wanted…but finally made it.
Ok. Is there a way to make this work using direct association between the device and light switch? I had a CA9000 working with a trigger and scene but it has stopped functioning and I cannot figure out why. As such, I would like to try direct association. I have heard that direct association is faster than using scenes and it will work even if the Vera is offline so it seems like a better way.
I have spent most of the day searching forums and the internet for help on setting this up and have been unable to locate anything. I can’t even find any clear directions on how associations work and how to set them up.
