Hi All,
I’m building a security system with Vera that will integrate a DSC panel and sensors to protect a remote cottage. I would like to mount two outdoor IP cameras (looking at FOSCAM FI9805E) that will be hooked up to external high quality motion sensors via the ALARM I/O BlOCK on the camera. When motion is detected from outside, camera will start recording and fire me a notification.
I want this to also generate an alarm within Vera which would then instruct all the lights to come on and hopefully spook the intruders. Looks like lots of people having problems with FOSCAM. Is there another low budget exterior camera that would work? All I care about is detecting the motion event. I’m going to use CAM CLOUD to store the video etc.
Have a look at Hikvision cameras.
I 2nd Hikvision. I started with foscams and they all junk now.
So I picked up two HIKVISION. Great cameras.
Now I need to know if it is possible for Vera to issue commands directly to the camera. I.e. on Motion detect (from Z-Wave sensor) issue a command to begin recording? I see HIKVISION has an extensive API but I am not a programmer. Wondering if anyone has accomplished this?
I plan to also integrate a DSC panel into the mix so that I can detect ARM and UNARMED states.

I have not looked into this as I use BLUEIRIS to accomplish this, but you might be able to search for a HTTP command that will trigger the recording. If you can find that then you can get it going easy.
