I currently have a veralite with couple ge switches, some wemo light switches, hue bulbs, 2 aeon 4-1’s , DSC alarm system and a nest thermostat.
Smarthings has intrigued me for awhile so I bought a hub from amazon to try it out. If I don’t like it I’ll send it back.
I’m planning on unplugging my veralite, plug in the smartthings hub and start connecting devices. Is there anything I should cautious about? When I plug my veralite back in will all still be connected and working as it was before?
You will need to exclude your zwave devices from your Vera , then add them to the smartthings hub. Also getting the DSC alarm takes a bit of work to get it working. Fyi if your internet is down smartthings won’t work.
They have said a version 2 with local control is coming of the smartthings hub. I have both running. I love the community at smartthings. But when the internet is flaky and the wife is trying to turn lights on it’s not good. Lol.
dbmet, does smarthings have conditional logic ability build in to be able to make complicated scenes using AND as well as OR similar to what ISY-994i or Homeseer has or do you have to learn Luup or PLEG like with Vera?
I have used it for motion sensors. I used it that if there is motion to turn on a light, then if there is no motion for so many minutes it would turn off the light. They kinda have scenes but you might wanna read the forum to get a better explanation of them as I don’t use them.
Never tried doing that. I just excluded from Vera then added to smartthings. Then got tired of smartthings problems and had to exclude from smartthings then add to Vera. Kind of a pain.
Once the devices are excluded from one controller and added to another, you’ll have to repeat that process again to go back. A backup / restore will not work.
