Hi, for the life of me I can not figure out how to get the Blue Iris plugin working with Vera. Is there a step by step guide? Thanks.

Thank you for the quick reply. I have watched the video but I can’t make out anything that is being done. It’s too small and blurry and looks totally different than what I have (Vera Edge). I have read through all the post and tried everything I could think of doing. I don’t even see some of the parameters being discussed where you are suppose to enter streaming criteria. I have been struggling with Vera since I have purchased it and have spend more time than I spend on most things trying to get the most simple things working…very frustrating. Thanks for the help.
Sorry, you didn’t mention you were on U15…cant help you there. As for instructions, in the code download I believe there is also a manual you can read that might help.
You need to be more specific on what you need help on. I have more then one edge. I have removed the blueiris plugin not to long ago do to no need to have it installed and the stress it puts on vera, which causes other vera issues.
What are you trying to acomplish, how many cameras fo u have?
Ui5 and ui7 look different but the advanced menus are the same and the data entered is the same. So altho you says it looks different (its really blue vs. Green) its the same.
Post screen shots of where you need help or get stuck and we can help.
Only thing u need is camera short name, ip and port, and your user password info.
Hi, I have added all the parameters and was able to watch the video and double check everything, still no go. I don’t use a username/password so I have left this blank. I only have one camera and once I save the info in Vera, the added camera just displays 'no signal". I just can’t figure out what could be missing. I went through a similar process for my DSC security panel, it had taken me two weeks to get it finally working and I was about to send the Vera back…frustrating but once I got it working, I am very happy with it.
Since you specify Vera Edge, I am pretty sure you are running UI7. I am also assuming that your downloaded the Blue Iris plugin from the Vera app store. It does work under Ui7 and quite well. I have 10 camera’s running under it.
First things first.
On your computer running Blue Iris, what is the IP address of that computer and what port did you set up for the BlueIris web accesss? That is information the plugin needs to know to be able to access the camera and display an image. I am at work and don’t have access to my BI server but I know it’s on one of the tabs of the BI settings.
Open up a web browser and enter the IP address, followed by a : and then the port. (Eg for IP 10.10.10.1 and port 81 enter http://10.10.10.1:81) You should see the Blue Iris index camera view. If you get an error or no camera image, double check your Blue Iris configuration as the Web setup for it is incorrect or missing info. Which would be why Vera can’t see the camera either. The Blue Iris forums at cam-it.org can help you with that issue.
On the device for your camera, click the > next to it to go to the settings.
On the main settings page, verify that the values for IP and Port match what is showing in the Blue Iris settings above.
If you have a userID and password setup in BI for accessing the camera, enter those there as well.
Scroll down to the Advanced Settings and click the >
Params tab:
Check the IP field and confirm it shows the IP:Port values for your Blue Iris server. Eg IP is 10.10.10.1 and port is 81, the value should read 10.10.10.1:81
Variables tab:
Verify that the CameraName variable contains the Blue Iris short name for your camera,
Verify that the URL variable starts with /image/xxxxx where xxxxx is the short name for your camera
Verify that DirectStreamingURL variable reads /mjpg/xxxxx/video.mjpg where xxxxx is the short name for your camera
If you are not 100% sure of the correct short name, replace xxxxx with index in all 3 above fields. That is the default view for Blue Iris that shows a mosaic of all connected cameras.
Hi Thanks you so much for the details. I have checked and everything is as you described, the only thing that may be different is when I type in the http//IP:8181 that is setup in BI, it brings me to the remote login page for the web server and requests a username and password. I figured this out yesterday that I can access it remotely via this page. Should I be seeing a different page when I access the IP:port?
There’s your problem. You need to have anonymous access enabled in Blue Iris for the plugin to be able to talk to BI.
ok so is this just a matter of creating a new BI user called “anonymous” with no password and then adding this as the user to Vera? I tried this but it did not work. Is there another location to add anonymous access?

Camera working great. Under devices in Vera the camera is there as a device, how do I get rid of the RED “can’t detect deivice” error? The camera works but the device within Vera is not detected. I’m assuming because the plugin is talking directly to BI and Vera does not see the camera, do I simply delete the device or is it needed.

@BOFH THank you very much for those instructions. I was finally able to get one of my BI cameras up and running through the plugin. My question is does adding the cameras to the plugin add significant load to the Vera Edge? My main reason for adding them is so I can add the camera images to the appropriate pages in my Homewave a but I would like to confirm if won’t bring down my Vera before I add the other 7. How have 10 been working out for you and our of curiosity how do you use them with the Vera?
I’m not seeing issues with my Vera 3 load wise or stability wise. I run them via Vera so I can remotely access the camera feeds via the same app I use to access Vera rather than having to use a second app. 1 of the cameras provides a more or less constant feed while I am at work so I can check on my dogs. Based on their behavior I may switch to other camera’s (eg outside ones) to see what’s going on.
I haven’t yet set up more than one of the virtual motion sensors for one of the BI cameras but will probably add them for most and use them for notifications.
