Blue Iris Plugin?

I find that camera streaming in Vera works better if the img is sourced from Blue Iris than to the camera’s web server. The only drawback to this is you that you lose PTZ capabilities (in Vera).

Has anyone figure out a way to send PTZ commands from vera to Blue Iris?

I just ordered my 2 new Focscams coming next week with the Blue Iris software. So I am also very interested in this if anybody can help.

@ itchyballs; you’re saying you can get the images from blue iris on the vera Gui?

Can you tell me how , I have now almost only HD cameras and unable to view them via vera. The 0.3kp cameras (foscam clones) showed without a problem.

Sure. Add a camera manually and use http://IPADDRESS/image/CAMERANAME .

Other things you can do with Vera and BI.

-Run a scene in vera to change BI profile (green, yellow, red light stuff).
-Send HTTP Post to run a Vera Scene (in my case Prowl Notification) when BI senses motion on the cameras. Basically turning your Cameras into “motion detectors”.

Even better have BlueIris send HTTP post to vera that calls a scene that triggers the motion sensor for the camera. This way you can use the filters and mask out areas like tree limbs or street areas. I then have a PLEG event that resets the motion sensor after 30 seconds.

Every since HomeWave created their notification app, I have removed prowl. Homewave notifications work great.

When I insert this link in my webbrowser , no username and password required when on LAN:
http://10.0.0.20:84/image/Gate

It gives me the feed from blue iris.

I user the “add IP camera” and inserted the link ( see attachment) , but vera says, “unable to get image from camera” anything else I can try?

I had the issue that if you enter the URL in the first screen in vera and select generic IP Cam in the 2nd screen that the URL will be changed.
After entering it there manually again it worked for me (I’m using authentication as well so you might want to try that).

Sending commands to BI however only worked after I removed the anonymous user in BI, set the websever authenticaion to all connections and removed the secure only tick.
This will allow a HTTP call with username and password included in the URL.

@ Idefix: I saw that the url changed again after selecting “generic camera” but after changing it to the correct url , vera still says “unable to get picture”

Attached a screenshot of my blue iris settings.
On LAN no authentication is required , and when I insert the URL in my browser it gives me the camera, without asking for a username and password.

Would be nice if I can get this to work…

can you please advise what settings are you using to add camera manually i have vera 3 do I use generic camera ?
i am new in this forum and have a hard time adding my cameras to the vera

Nevermind.

I just removed and tried to re-add one of my cameras but it is no longer working. I get the confirmation that camera was added but it doesn’t appear in my device list.

I got tired of messing with getting Blue Iris and VERA linked and I finally got it working.

I managed to get it running in VERA for six cameras but I’ve removed it, it didn’t actually do very much for me and I’m having memory allocation problems. But I can describe what I did and you can try it:

Install the DVR Plug In
In the installed Plug in enter the IP of your Blue Iris
In the “Ports” section enter “N” ports starting with the base port of your Blue Iris. In my case the base port is 9080 so I entered “9080,9081,9082,9083,9084,9085”. This is a “fake” needed so that the DVR will generate the number of cameras you want, it isn’t the actual configuration since BI only has a single PORT
When VERA restarts it will have created “N” cameras.
In EACH camera setup REPLACE the generated PORT NUMBER with the BASE PORT of Blue Iris, in this case 9080 in the URL; you are alwasy going to use the SAME BI base port number in each camera.
Enter the URL in each camera:
… :/image/?time=1234

I suspect the “time=1234” is actually not needed but I entered it and everything worked so I left it

This setup sounds like you are going to get a one time shapshot but it actually updates every time BI updates its camera images.

This MAY not be the absolutely correct way to to this but it worked for me and I got 6 constantly updating images in VERA. One thing I did notice it that on some occasions the image would not appear in the device dialog but rather a default icon. If I opened the camera dialog I could see the running image however. There didn’t appear to be any rhyme nor reason to why or when the running image did or didn’t appear

I’ve also experimented with the BI Alert => Vera, using “WGET” on BI to force execution of a Vera SCENE and it worked fine; executing tasks and sending notifications through PushOver and/or Vera Alerts. I suspect this may be of more actual use than having the cameras display in VERA. For my normal user interface I use AuthomationHD and ImperiHome so the VERA UI doesn’t really get much use except in setup/maintenance.

I have not yet tried the other direction, Vera => BI, but I also haven’t really thought much about what I’d want Vera to tell BI to do that it doesn’t already do by itself.

I don’t say that the BI plugin itself caused memory problems, just that I’m having problems with not enough memory available in my Vera Lite. Not displaying them in the Vera UIi doesn’t keep them from being used elsewhere. I’m testing ImperiHome and have a camera image displayed on one of the dashboard panels. I used the same URL in ImperiHome as I did in BI and it works fine, you can select the refresh interval considering that you may be using it on a remote link.

I actually managed to add 3 cameras feeds from Blue Iris and i can see them in AutHomation app on my android phone
the trick to add camera was to be in local network - once logged in via local network i was able to add camera
