Best type of motion sensors for automation

Hi all

I am about to push the boat out and order a DSC, primarily so I can integrate the wired sensors with Vera. I have been told in another discussion that some motion sensors are not fast acting and log motion for 5 minutes, extending it if further motion is detected in that time. I am intending on using PLEG to automate certain things based on sequences of motion events happening in a specified time window. Does anyone know if this is a sensor limitation or more related to how the alarm panel deals with a motion event? If its the sensors, does anyone have a recommendation on the best make / type of sensor to use with the DSC panel to avoid this? I have no pets but do have kids, so sensors also need to be sensitive enough to detect their movement.

Thanks

The initial-sense delay, and the repeated trip lockout, is on Wireless DSC Motion sensors.

Wired ones don’t exhibit that behavior, although you may find that they’re not sensitive enough, or don’t trip early enough “overall” (with Vera involved) depending upon the use-case, and how your motions are placed, their field of view (etc)
