Looking to buy my first z-wave lock and hoping I can get some good feedback on what to buy?
Option #1 - Monoprice Lock - CHEAP! - Couldn’t find much info on this in the forums
Option #2 - Schlage Motorized Deadbolt Lock BE469 - Lots of info on the forums, not all good though
Option #3 - Yale Real Living - Seem to be lots of people using them
Other better options?

I have Kwikset deadbolts (2) and Kwikset door knobs (2). I have no issues. Battery Life is almost 6 months. One set is on the front door (15 feet one wall), the other set is the garage entry door 45 feet 3-4 walls. I have plenty of neighbor nodes for the mesh. I installed the door knob locks upside down and they are on the same door with the associated deadbolts. Only issue was they were not designed to be upside down, so I had to use a piece of foam to hold the battery slide in place.
The Kwikset locks associated easy with Vera. They have keypad codes. They have the quick re-key feature and anti-bounce tech. Customer service is good too.
I don’t know about the other locks out there, but this is a great forum and others will chime in on those units.
The latest issue of Consumer Reports has an article about deadbolts. They include several ZWave versions. It was interesting reading.
Of the ZWave locks, the Schlage came out on top.
Mine are working flawlessly.

Based on what? Old posts? Outdated firmware?
Schlage is the best, based on both functionality and actual lock mechanism security (ANSI Grade 1 rated).

I own Kwikset and Schlage. Both work fine with my Vera systems. I prefer the Kwikset because of the motorized deadbolt. Earlier versions of Schlage did not have a motor. As mentioned by @thewizardofoz, make sure you have good mesh coverage between the lock and Vera, preferably a device that can pass encrypted signals to and from the lock.

I have the Yale’s and have no issues.
One minor pet peeve is I can’t use the keypad to enter a pin to “lock” the door handle. It locks with just one touch of any button. This is a little sensitive to accidentally lock…and i wanted to enter a pin to lock the door and “arm” the alarm. When I open the lock, the alarm is disarmed. The deadbolt allows this…just not the door handle models.

Yup, and the messages in the beginning of that thread are over a year old. Since then, both Schlage firmware and Vera device support files have been updated.

I’ll agree with @TC1 on this one. I’m running 5.7 and 5.8 firmwares (I realize some people have issues with the 5.7 firmware) and both my locks are solid except the 5.7 had the screen go bad. This was a known issue by Schlage and they replaced my lock FOR FREE and let me keep the old one. Sure the keypad doesn’t work, but I can still lock it, unlock it, and monitor it through the Vera, so I put it on a door that we don’t normally enter from (but may exit from). Even then, the key still works as well.
With Schlage you get awesome support and that is one of the best selling points IMHO. Doesn’t hurt that it’s a solid lock as well.
I do like Kwikset’s re-keying feature called “Smart Key” on the Kwiksets too. It is a real time and money saver if you have to change the keys.
I sometimes forget mine have that. Great if you want to do all of your exterior locks but can’t afford to do all at once. You just add to add as you can and use that Smart Key to keep them all the same.

The coverage of nodes on your Vera network is the “mesh”
If Vera is in range of the lock, it can communicate directly with it. But if Vera is in the back of the house and the lock is on the front door, you need to have some powered z-wave devices (switches, power outlets, repeaters) between the two to help pass along the signals. Most z-wave devices can communicate with each other and with Vera. This creates a “mesh” network, an environment where z-wave thrives.
You can search the forum to find devices that pass along encrypted signals used by locks. Evolve used to make an outlet module that accomplished this.
So, I bought 4 Schlage BE469 locks but recently saw the Yale locks in Costco and was thinking of replacing the Schlage to Yale. This thread is making me rethink that path. The Schlages have only been installed for a week and so far no major complaints.
Schlage was the top rated in consumer reports for kick-in resistance, not zwave functionality (from what I remember) How about differences in PIN management? Is Schlage limited on Vera compared to nexia?
I prefer Yale aesthetically. But I’m waiting for the 500 series zwave plus before buying locks. Only one zwave plus lock has been announced, AFAIK. A yale keyless deadbolt. I assume all the major lock makers have zwave plus locks in the pipeline.
(Anyone interested in maximum physical resistance in a lock needs to look at the strike plate)
I ended up buying the Kwikset 910.
I’ve setup my user codes but wondering if there is a way to see a log of what code is used to unload the door and what time?
When I go to the Lock Log it says “Type” and “Source” as Variable

You can view a log of what pin was used at what time. You can also see when the lock button was pressed, any dead bolts errors and a bunch of other things.
Before you can see any of this you need to open the notification tab under your lock in Vera and add different notifications. You don’t have to check the notify tabs to actually notify you but once a notification is made it will record them in your logs.
I added the Lock\Unlock notification and what is weird is that from Dashboard - Overview in the Alerts box I can click on the Notification button so see the info I wanted.
But when I then click on the Alerts title and it brings me to “My Alerts” the “View Notification” cell phone icon is not under format…
This is in Advanced mode.

Sounds like your in UI6 or UI7 I’m in UI5. I’m also not following the problem your having. If I want to manually look at the logs for that lock. I go to the lock then hit the wrench, click logs and I have a calender list.
I mostly use VeraAlerts so my phone keeps a log and I normally check from there. Only thing is that, things I don’t want to get alerts on my cell all day long for I need to check for those in the logs under Vera since I didn’t have them sent to my phone to begin with.
