tried searching, but is this possible…take a wifi thermostat andadd it to a z-wave network? I am just starting to set up system and would like to know if i am locked into a z-wave thermostat, or can I get any wifi thermostat and add it to network?

Each non-ZWave device you add to Vera needs a Plugin to drive it. If you’re lucky enough to have the plugin for the specific Wifi TStat you have then you’re all set.
From memory, there’s only one right now (see the list on http://apps.mios.com)
If one doesn’t exist, but you can code and an API is available for the device, then you can write one.
