Beginner question -Lg tv ethernetcontrol

Hello

I’ m new here , i have a vera2 for 6 months now and i’ ve Got a question about controlling lg smarttv’s 2011. , just like the lgtvremote app for smartphones !

Is there plugin wich can do this ?

If not,

Can, and where do I have to begin for making some plugin for lgtv ? Like Samsung and Panasonic

I have à vera2 ui5, my computer skils are not very high, i’ve read a lot of documentations on Google and the forum but don’t know how too start or leave the idea !

Regards thomas

Thomas, writing a Vera plugin is not for beginners. At the very least you will need to know how to program, how to teach yourself a new programming language and how to debug in an unfriendly development environment. Bonus points for familiarity with the Unix command line, knowledge of networking protocols and reverse-engineering experience.

Your best chance of success is to find a developer, ply them with flowers or chocolates or SparkFun gift certificates, possibly supply them with an LG TV to test their work on, and wait.

Maybe the RS232 plugin could be adapted easily?

thanks,

it maybe possible to connect trough rs232.

But I thought that with an open api for lg smart tv it would be possible, to control with HTTP requests. Lg is one of the manufactures that have a lot of open software.

So I hope there will be more people that want this future for lg,

there are allready plugins for panasonic and samsung,
how are they made ?

Most of the plugins have been written by people who have the piece of equipment and know how to program.

I agree that it’s probably no harder to do the LG plugin than the Panasonic one, but so far no one has. I am not that person because I don’t have an LG television. You are not that person because you are not a programmer.

There is in the process of developing the app.
Currently according to the details in apps.mios.com (page 12) it can turn on and off.

I will read it more times before i understand it (all).
