Does Vera have the ability to “Beam,” “Beacon,” or “wake” the Schlage lock or do I need to have the Schlage light module that supports z-wave beaming protocol???
I feel comfortable asserting that Vera is quite capable of “Zensor Beam” mode, and so can operate the lock directly herself, so long as she’s within range of the LiNK lock.
See:
http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Schlage_Lock#Secure_Z-Wave_Devices_Explained
If MCV confirms the validity of what I’ve said here, I (or they) will amend that wiki page to reflect the fact that Vera (through her Dongle) can accommodate “beaming.”
I am within range of my lock so I don’t use any link from Vera to the Lock and mine works great.
Correct. With Vera close to the lock, I have zero problems. 8)
In fact, I’m still waiting for others to confirm that the lock works with the Schlage light module. It didn’t for me.
…and my Z-Wave network is not a good test case for you, since both Vera and my RP200 module are close to the Schlage lock - each is about 10 feet away - and the lock works flawlessly.
I will post my results on Friday when I get to hook up the rp200. My Vera is only about 30 feet away from the lock, but I also had to upgrade to the new Luup.
It was working fine before the upgrade. Now it RARELY works and NEVER polls.
The Z-Stick is the beaming (AES128) portion of the process 8) probably not a bad idea to have an RP200 close in the vicinity of the Lock
Benny, if nothing else has changed, can you try this firmware: http://download.controlmyhouse.net/betafirmware/ftp/wl500gP_Luup-1.0.937.trx
go to advanced, logs, check verbose logging, try to control the lock, and if it still fails, submit a trouble ticket and put for aaron in the comments?
It appears to be communicating…THANKS!!
I tried to look at the logs, but all I get is a screen that has datetime and nothing else.
You can also use the following GE/Jasco Devices and they support beam with 2.0a and 3.0a firmware, see the back of the device for firmware version
These GE/Jasco Z-Wave products support beaming:
45602- Lamp Module
45603- Fluorescent Light & Appliance Module
45604- Outdoor Module
45605- Duplex Receptacle
45606- Dimmer Switch
45613- 3-Way Dimmer Kit
Future support:
45609- On/Off Switch
45614- 3-Way On/Off Switch
I am getting the red circle with my lock. I may not be close enough for reliable communications.
The sad thing is, there are no devices I want in the middle of those two so if I get a lamp module repeater it will not be doing anything else.
This is the best price I can see online for the Outdoor Module

Anyone have any experience with this module? Are there different revisions of this or will any of them work with the Schlage Link?
My next phase of installing locks and Vera is a two building complex where there is about 50 feet between the buildings. I am thinking of installing one of these outside the 1st building and one outside the 2nd to transfer the signal to the 2nd building.

I have resolved to install an RP200 for every Schlage Link for reliability. The range on the Link locks is not much reliably especially if you go through a wall.

I have this one and it works great, very nicely designed and never had an issue. Make sure its 2.0a or 3.0a firmware and it’ll support beaming.

Where did you pick it up, or where would you recommend buying it? Thanks!
