battery powered sensors

I have a few door-sensors, 2 from aeonlabs and 2 from everstring and so my questions are in general about battery powered sensors. (1) when my system tries to configure my sensors, it waits for the sensor to “wake-up”. I am not sure if any of my sensors will automatically wake-up automatically at the interval I programmed or if they always need to be manually “woken-up”, but let say I don’t want to wait for the interval, can I just walk to the sensor and “trip it” manually? (ie.: open the door & close the door) will this act as a “wake-up”? or do I really need to open-up the little sensor and press a button inside?(because some of my sensors are not easily accessible) (2) once my sensors are configured, wouldn’t it be better to go in the settings for this sensor and set the “automatically configure” option to NO. Is there an advantage to let the system attempts to automatically configure these sensors… and when exactly will the system try to reconfigure the devices (and why)? because it seems to me that if the system tries to reconfigure the sensors while I am not around to “wake them up” won’t the configuration fail?
Thank you for your help
Claude

(1) you have 2 options: you can wait till the device wakes up (depending on the wake up interval configured, etc) or wake it up manually (check the manual on how to wake up a device manually – opening and closing the door is not enough) typically, when you add a device or change batteries, the device stays awake for a short period for configuration (again check the manual for specifics)

(2) In my experience, Vera doesn’t reconfigure the device unless I change options or parameters, so I don’t find the “automatically configure” option problematic.

Ok thank you. I understand… I will do that. What is strange is that my sensors work just fine (ie.: when I open a door, the sensor sends the “trip” signal to my veralite and the dashboard icon changes accordingly. but yet the dashboard continually displays a blue light with a mention that it is waiting for device to wake up to configure the device.
Anyways, can you please confirm my understanding that when manually configuring a sensor, I assume I don’t need to bring the sensor physically besides the veralite? This near proximity between the veralite and the device is Only for an inclusion (or exclusion) is this an accurate statement?

true, specially when sensor trips are reported to Vera, which implies that communication with Vera is OK, so it’ll eventually get configured.

I have a few Everspring, Aeon and Schlage sensors that have been running on batteries for about a year and a half (very little use). On my next trip to the site, I want to replace all the batteries in the sensors.

Do I simply replace the batteries without hitting any buttons? Or do the sensors need to be excluded/included again with Vera?

Do I simply replace the batteries without hitting any buttons?
Usually, yes. If you have programmed Vera to call the police when they are tripped, you may want to put them into Bypass first. ;)
do the sensors need to be excluded/included again with Vera?
No. They should wake-up and update Vera as soon as you insert the new batteries.
