AutoVera

Is there a guide to using AutoVera anywhere? The only thing that seems to be on the Google+ group site are a few comments.

I know that it can receive updates from Vera on changes to devices etc but it would be nice to see a concise example of how to use it —

You need to use it with tasker. Once you have that installed. You can use it.

Example
Create a profile
Select state 》 Pugin
Select autovera
Select configure
Choose want you want to be the trigger for this profile… which vera device
Then create your task… Our actions you want to happen when this profile triggers

Thanks. I did something like you suggested as a first test but it didn’t work. Here’s what I did

  1. Went to AutoVera on my Android and seleted the “bell” to toggle notifications for the Living room Track Lights
  2. Went to AutoVera Plug In and it shows my phone as receiving status updates
  3. Went to Tasker and Selected Profile/State
    State: PlugIn
    AutoVera Status Update
    Selected the Vera
    Device: LR Track Lights
    Service: Power Switch
    Variable: Status
    New Value: 1
  4. Linked New Task
    Notify Sound
Selected a sound and an icon to put on the notification bar
  5. Turned on the Profile

Ran the Task and it posted the icon

Turned on the LR track Lights and nothing happened

Tasker also shows “no active Profiles” if that is any indication.

Ignore the no active profiles thing… thing…

did you install the Autovera plugin for your vera?

OK

Yes, the plug in is installed clean and i have 4 Android devices enaqbled to receive status updates

ok…
in your Tasker profile…
New Value… you set that to 1
try clearing that so you get responses on any change

also… try going to the autovera app and refresh devices

in the Vera plugin… is the GCM key set? Under settings… does it list your Device?

Also…

in the Autovera app… make sure you tick toasts status so you can see when the autovera receives a status update…

check the autovera logs too and see if it lists your device change

I’ve had the toasts set all along. All I can see in the log:

Changing State - 2014-04-14 12:37:59.292 - Changed receiving of status updates to true

Previously there was a lot of data in the log about exchanging GCM keys, etc., which interpret to mean that the APP was connecting itself the Plug In.

Its Working

I had to remove and reinstall the Plugin and the Android Apps and this morning it works. I also found an interesting phenomenon; I have an HTC One X+ phone. if I put that name in the AutoVera app it shows up twice in the Plug in, once as John_HTC_One_X and again as John_HTC_One_X+. So I removed them both and changed the Android name to John_HTC_One_X and it only appears once now and everything seems to work. Apparently doesn’t like the “+” symbol appended.

Thanks for your patience and assistance with this.

Glad to hear it

Hi,

I have tried to navigate to the Google group to join so i can get the app and be a beta tester but no joy sadly. have i missed something?

I would be interested to use this if it is still lurking any where?

Thanks - all up and running. I am getting an “AutoVera: Lua Error” message however - any ideas?

Yeah - i get Autovera:Lua error too.
In Advanced tab : “No devices are setup to receive Status Updates.”

on the Android app, after entering my mios login, it finds my vera but the “Please Wait” "Refreshing devices for Vera xxxxx… " does nothing…

Mine works just have the lua error. I have recived an email from the dev that mentions this will be fixed soon and should not effect it working. Perhaps reinstall the app on the android or double check credentials?

Are many people using this ? Read about it yesterday so thought I might give it a go if it’s stable.

Yup every day its cracking stuff. I also use ot woth auto vooce to activate scenes.vtake some time reading and playing and open up a whole new world of automation via phone vera tasker and voice. Brilliant

I tried to install the plug in on my Vera 3 UI5. It will not install- “Lua error”

Also Autovera is not listed in APPS on my vera. I used mios apps to find and try to install. Why is it not listed in the apps tab in Vera?

UPDATE: Plug in is installed and shows my 1 android device. Autovera is configured in phone with devices activated (yellow bell)

Set up tasker profile using your notify examples. Tested in tasker (play) and it works.

Tripped a device and nothing happened. I noticed my phone notifications says no active Tasker profiles even though the profile in tasker is “ON”.

So what am I missing here?

Have you saved tasker tasks and exited and then gone into it again? Isong roast commands will help identify activity…or lack of.
