Auto Bathroom Light With Night time Pee Setting

Hi Guys,
this is my first ‘serious’ attempt at automation (up until now it’s been simple on/off stuff) and need a helping hand. Attached is a flow chart of what I think the should happen, I’m thinking of using the PLTS to make my life easier. Does the logic look okay?

Things not yet resolved:

[ul][li]I want to use a mains powered recessed ceiling PIR, guessing I’ll have to have that going into a relay module so as to integrate it into z-wave. The PIR has it’s own built in timer, but figured I’d set it to minimum and use Vera to do the timing of the PIR ‘pulse’[/li]
[li]Not really though yet about how to manually turn the lights off, perhaps I can use the double click function of the bedroom light (I dont plan on having a bathroom light switch) :-S[/li][/ul]

Much appreciate any guidance you can give me.

You can always have the bathroom light go off After the bedroom light goes off … (At least 5 minutes after no activity).

Hi,

I have a similar set up so if I am moving around my house at night lights only activate to a lower level so you can see what you are doing but not bright enough to wake you up!

I have timers to reset if they keep getting tripped (to stop them timing out) and they then switch off said light once timed out.

My logic is triggered / determined by a virtual switch witch is dictated by weather I have or have not run a bed time scene. other logic is in place to override any error such as home alarm off = night time v switch off. this logic also ensure the bedroom lights don’t get tripped as otherwise we wake every one up.

I would imagine PLEG is the best way to go and you can be certain once you have achieved your project you will add further logic to make it even more suited to what you want. I am not using PLEG even though I should be but manage what I need the long way around. one day I shall eventually get rid of my many mnay scenes and work it all into PLEG as I should have done a long time ago ;D

Best of luck and hope my quick ramble helps in some way… ???

i have a 220v PIR with timer on lowest setting which gives a pulse to a fibaro duo-switch that switches the toilet light. the fibaro has a built-in timer set to 5 minutes and after it auto-switches OFF. can be override with vera to switch it OFF before the timer reaches 5 minutes. so i made a trigger that checks if its night and set the fibaro to OFF at 3 minutes. i guess you can also put a normal z-wave switch and have it switched off after 5 minutes with help of PLEG. or do it with a trigger that senses when its ON and turn it in scene OFF after x minutes.

Thanks for your replies,
I’m thinking that the PLTS could be ideally suited for this application as it has (by design) two interval settings (for the different ON times depending upon night and day). The only thing I’m not sure about is how to achieve the different outputs (either lights on 100% or lights on 5%) within one PLTS, or do I need two PLTS to do this?
At the moment I dont have the Fibaro Dimmer modules (just sent them all back to Vesternet who are kindly replacing them as they are old version 1.9 and I need the S2 group association feature which only works on version 2.2) so I can’t do any development until the new ones arrive. :frowning:

Different Actions on Trigger and Trigger2

thats very kind of mark, fibaro stuff doesn’t update the firmware if it’s below firmware 2.1 so he has to replace them and cant upgrade the old ones firmware. s2 group association does however work on older firmwares, it’s crappy nevertheless and doesnt work 100% ok up untill v2.2…

First Road Block: because I want the time of day to dictate the dimmer light level, I can’t trigger PLTS with S1 as this would also turn on the bathroom light before PLEG has a chance to check whether to turn them on 100% or dimmed to 5% (day/night). So I figured I’d use S2 but can I find S2 as a trigger? Nope! There seems to be a load of posts on here with the same problem re: using FGD211 S2 and I can’t find an answer.
I guess I have two solutions:

  1. use a battery operated PIR that PLTS can use as a trigger (not an option)
  2. use a seperate Fibaro Relay module to ‘receive’ the input from the mains powered PIR which PLTS can use as a trigger (costly solution)
  3. anything else you guys can come up with

for using the S2 trigger you have to set the right parameters and in group 2 put a switch and use this switch to do the switching on vera

cheers for that! I’ve already tried creating a Virtual Switch Device, but it does not appear in the list when I try to configure the Group ID:2 association. I can’t see what other parameters I’d need to set to get S2 to work.

I’ve also tried getting parameter 41 (scene activation) to work, but can’t understand how to create a scene (older mcv came up with scene controllers for each switch, now it doesn’t).

I’ve ended up using another Fibaro relay unit to interface the mains powered PIR with Vera (tried my best to use S2 but failed).
using PLTS to get the two light levels to work based on time of day was really easy (see PLTS report attached).
Any suggestions on ways to improve the functionality would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,

it would require a z-wave switch to be able to add it to the s2
you could also use the mains powered PIR to trigger s2 input on the fibaro

Good afternoon. Please tell me, did the association and dimmer switch. By pressing the button, the light and the relay, but when you click with the web interface works only dimmer or switch, depending on what press. The essence of their simultaneous on / off.

sorry pelihbo9936, I have no idea of what you are talking about!
