I live in Florida and my attic is cooled by natural convection only (eave and ridge vents). There was at one point an end vent fan, but it has not worked since I have owned the house and i’ve just never thought to replace it. Our power bill is getting higher (as we have more kids…LOL) and I would like to put in a Solar Vent fan. I know that some of them have inside modules that allow it to also run off of A/C in the evenings to help completely cool the attic after sundown.
My question/request is this:
Does anyone have any good suggestions on a brand? I’ve been eyeing the US Sunlight ones because they have the optional A/C module and inside display for viewing the temp, humidity and status of the fan.
Bonus:
One that would report the Temp, Humididy and status to the Vera would be great!, but definitely not needed. I don’t want to “control” it necessarily via the Vera, but having it visible would be nice.
Thanks for any advice anyone can give me. We have neighbors who had one installed and have raved about it and how little their A/C runs now because of it. Of course they paid $2,000 for theirs (installed) and I think that is a bit outrageous if you ask me (saying the US Sunlight one is <$550 with the A/C Module)!
