I’m trying to get a Everspring ST814 to directly control an Aeon smartswitch. Is there a tutorial on how devices are controlled in groups?
I would like to know the same thing! Someone please help!
What I am actually trying to do is to create a direct association between a CA9000 and a light switch so that the lights in my stairwell will turn on automatically at night. Both devices have already been added to my Vera3. They currently work with a scene, but I would like to change that. I have read that direct association is faster than scenes because Vera is not involved. The command goes straight from the Motion sensor to the switch. Also, my understanding is that direct associations will continue to work even if the Vera is down or is otherwise unavailable or busy.
First you need to know which Association Group your sensor uses. This is usually in the instruction sheet. The ST814 uses group 2 and the trigger levels are set using configuration variables 1 to 8.
The CA9000 data sheet doesn’t specify the Association Group and, searching this forum and other HA sites suggests that it may not be able to do this.
Open the sensor control block (click wrench) and select Device Options tab. Under Associations, enter the required Group ID (2 for the ST814) and click Add group. Now click Set and select the device that you want to control. You can select more than one but there is a limit. I think the ST814 will take three. Now click Back to ZWave options - right at the bottom. Close the device block, click Save/Reload and refresh your browser page.
You should see blue messages on your sensor device block showing that configuration and associations are being set. If it fails and you get a red message, try clicking Settings, Configure node right now in the device block.
You may have to repeat the Configure node right now and Save/Reload until everything gets set correctly. When its done, you should see the target device number(s) in the sensor Device Options, Associations, Group ID: 2, Currently: field.
Keep in mind that if you have one device control another device directly, Vera won’t know about it and thus may see the wrong state for that device until the next poll (if the device actually gets polled). Also, you would lose the bypass/arm feature that Vera offers for things like motion sensors.
If everything is running well, you may not notice the additional delay through Vera / it may not be a problem.

I have successfully paired a CA9000 to a CA600 directly using the HomePro ZTH100 box. The nice thing about having one of these boxes is that you can also use it to unpair and reset devices (unassociate) things that were used on other systems. I’ve been able to reset my CA600’s that I had paired with the Schlage system and also unassociated the CA9000 and even my Intouch controllers. Zwave is a nice system.
On another note this is my first post since I just bought the Vera3 last week to replace the Schlage system. I have now finally successfully paired and set up Automation on all my existing devices. I had tried the IRIS system but as others have mentioned it’s not fully Zwave compatible with everything that I have. I did buy some of their on/off GE Zwave switches and installed them where I had some X10 switches that had fried out and that all paired ok. Now I need to try some water sensors and some more Motion detector installs. I really like too how I was able to use the Schlage cameras with Vera using the reflash. I had found that a number of years ago and had flashed a number of cameras now for use as Webcams remotely at our snowmobile club (www.lhsc.net) . They are pretty decent for only paying $25 and $35 for them used.

FYI- the CA9000 seems to use Group 1 (other intermatic devices seem to also use this group). When setting up the CA9000 to use an association you really need to use one of the preset delays (5/10/15min)- if you use pulse your slaved switch will be very busy!
