Associating a lock with a sensor

The documentation is very weak on “Associations” and “Group IDs”.
Is it possible to simply pair a sensor with a lock so the lock understands that the door is open or not?

I’ve already coded this to work the way I want with Vera and without groups… Just thinking group ids and associations might be simpler.

Yale support said that the lock does not have anything inherently that would do this.
What about the vera unit grouping?

You can do that, but the receiving end (i.e. the lock) would have to know what to do with those messages (from the sensor). As you found out (from Yale support), it doesn’t.

So you’d have to tie the two together through Vera; which you already did, IIUC. (Vera, under the hood, associates herself in the relevant group of the sensor.)
