Are IP mono speakers available that I could use at home? That is simple economic (cheap) speaker that can wirelessly connect to my home network, and for which I could send wave files to from vera via LUA code. So not necessarily expecting a Vera Plugin here (but would be nice), but some speaker on the network I could write the LUA code myself to send an audio wave file to for example (sound effect).

For example, at a certain point in my automation LUA code, I may want to issue a sound effect so the user knows the mode they have just set something to via a zwave remote (with no screen).

There is a huge field of IP ethernet and wifi speakers out there. You “cheap” requirement however limits you considerably.

Your most cost effective options are going to be re-purposed Android phones and tablets or Raspberry Pi Squeezebox setups.

If you want off the shelf stuff, drop the “cheap” requirement and look for a used SIP paging speaker, perhaps.

Maybe then a cheap buzzer, chime OR doorbell where I could control the number of beeps or the tone played dynamically?
