Anyone know why Vera is connecting to "slicehost.com" on port 123 ?

Looking at the NETSTAT of my Vera router, I noted today that there is an outbound connection to 173.45.238.221 on udp port 123. I’m assuming it’s the hosting service used by MicasaVerde to store my camera images, but still, I would be interested to know for certain.

That’s the NTP (Network Time Protocol) [UDP] port.

Are you sure Vera’s not setup to use that server (or an alias of it) for keeping Vera’s clock sync’d?

Hi,

On the 123 port is listening the ntp client. And probably, the closest ntp server in your area is provided by slicehost.com .

I don’t recall specifying the NTP host, but it’s good to know that it’s doing something useful as apposed to something nefarious.
