An other help with the usb to serial protocol

Hi,
it’s been a while since i think of creating a plugin that will interface with a usb to serial interface in 2 way, For now i just want to use the read. The converter is a ftdi that seems to be compatible with the vera, i want to be able to read the serial device. Every time that the serial read a new value, it will create an other device (virtual motion sensor). the serial device will send a serie of nu,ber like 284635. So when input will be receive, if device already exist, it will be triggered and if not it will create a new device.

I know that there a lot of post with the serial thing but i’m a little lost, i download some plugin that where a little close to what i want but without any success.

Hi Mic
I’m just trying to figure this serial stuff out myself. You could download the Simpleserial.zip file and see if you can read data. That’s the first step I took.

Hi thanks, that what im trying to do also i take the Somfy plugin with the tuto. For now i’ve been able to create child binary switche and send command to the serial port, now i’m trying to figure out the other way’

Hey zforce, have you accomplished some result? With the link that you provide and the simple serial plugin, have been able to receive and send some information to an arduino with success. Now i try to show up these information in a variable form that will be showed in the plugin in the ui.
