I’m on the beta tester list and when I traverse to either of the links you posted I am informed that I am already a tester and am given the option to leave the test. Has the beta test turned into an alpha test?

My understanding is you’ll have to remove yourself from the beta test group and apply for the alpha group.

i tried to leave the beta group and even uninstall the app, still cant get the alpha ver

I have to approve you first when joining the group. Once you are approved, you’ll need to sign up via the google play link. Then you should receive the alpha releases.

I just signed up. Thanks. I notice the uninstall-reinstall message. Is this needed for recent installers of the non-alpha/beta version? I installed in late October. I’m looking to avoid re-configuring the linkages in Tasker.

I’m not positive as this is my first time with the alpha testing portion of the Google play store. I’ll post an apk file later. It may take up to 24 hours for everything to kick in.

Maybe you can make a settings import/export feature?
… until then, is there a file we can backup to save settings?

I let Play install the alpha over what I had and everything seems to be going fine so far.

@garretwp - Do I need to enable background polling to get the “retry if failed” behavior?

Unfortunately there is no backup feature at this time. To add something like this would take some time and is not something I can whip up in short time. I will post the apk file so for the ones who do not want to loose their settings can update via downloading the apk file and installing it. There is nothing I can do as this is a limitation on Google’s end, not mine.

Update - Tasker integration still works after the update, but the shortcuts that I put in my launcher had to be recreated. It was telling me “App isn’t installed”.

I’m noticing that the Alpha is having trouble figuring out when I switch from a local to a remote connection to my Vera. I’ll have the home icon when I’m definitely not, then it’ll switch over to the octagon and stay there. A refresh doesn’t seem to take care of the issue.

(should I post Alpha issues to the Google group? Or here?)

It is pretty difficult to nail this down to where you will not have issues. The current implementation will check to see if it can reach your vera unit when the connection changes. The connection change is done by the Android OS and will send a notification letting me know that the connection has changed. I may have to put a small delay before checking the connection when I am notified that the network has changed.

I left the beta test and now when I go to the link to apply for the alpha group I am immediately accepted as a tester and am taken to the link to download the beta. So I left the test again. What am I missing?

You were approved. It may take me a day or two to approve people as this app is not my day job and only a personal project of mine. I try my best to handle requests, emails, etc in a timely fashion. However, my job and personal life to have an affect on this.
