Alexa Dot in car

I can see where the idea here could solve problems. Someone could decide if they wish to turn off there alarm, open their garage unlock the back door, turn lights on on demand. As much as we try to plan for the most popular of possibilities, we can never cover everything. I would think attempting to use a dot or such is overlooking the obvious solution. What is needed is a command activated app on the smart phone that can do this for you. Many are so close as it is… “OK, MY PHONE, open the garage, turn off the alarm with pin #### , unlock the back door and turn on the back porch light”. This doesn’t need to be a dot.

Yep , that would be more than enough ( even enough for in my house , no alexa/dot neccessary than). But , the unlocking of the phone is probably still an issue.

I have a Galaxy Note 5 that supports a mode where, when connected to a specific BT device, it will remain unlocked for hands free use. So, you could set it to remain unlocked when you’re in the car and it’s connected to an in-car BT system.

Oh , that is a cool option . Haven’t seen that on my S6 though … I will check if it is a possibility.

This is not so much hardware as it is a firmware/OS option as my LG V10 has it as well. It seems to be an Android 6 feature. My phone stays unlocked as long as it’s on my person as my LG Urbane watch is set as a trusted device that can unlock the phone.

I realize it isn’t hardware, and is definitely tied to software. I just wasn’t sure how many vendors besides Samsung were doing it.

Solutions to voice unlock and act will happen because of the echo, dot, home type solution. The first thing I did when I got my home working was to see if I could get the same Assistant working on my phone. It will be a demand and it will be solved sooner than later I think.

AutoVoice with Tasker can leverage Google always listening depending on a few features of your phone. You could “possibly” have the screen off and still say your AutoVoice commands that link to Tasker and leverage AutoVera.

that is also an intersting option , didn’t now anout autovoice.
