Alarm System for Vera Integration... in the UK??

Hi Guys

Hoping someone can help, i’ve been trawling the forums for a few days trying to find some information on how to integrate an alarm system with Vera (specifically vera-lite) and have found some great write ups for the DCS and Honeywell Vista kits.

Only problem is im in the UK near birmingham and apparently Honeywell dont sell the Vista kits over here nor DCS. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced alarm system (uk based, with uk support) that would integrate with vera? Save me trying to import something from the states…

Regards
Martin

I am almost positive you can get DSC products in the UK. There should be some links on where to get them buried in the forum. Try searching a little harder.

Hi Garrett

Apologies I wasn’t clear in my previous post I did find one or two places selling dsc in the uk. However I was looking for a product where I could get uk manufacturer support if required etc. If I’ve got to install a dsc system then so be it just wish they weren’t so expensive over here ::slight_smile: does anyone have any experience of using DSC in the uk?

Thanks
Martin

I’m using DSC alarm system along with Envisalink EVL3 to connect to Vera, and live in Gods own county (Yorkshire). I bought the DSC power 1864 plus RFK5500 keypad to replace an ageing ademco optima alarm panel, and used the existing wiring and sensors as the start of my system. DSC bought from Z-wave Products here in the UK. I have over 40 yrs experience of electronics and computers and found the installation relatively simple. The hard part is the programming, the DSC manuals assume that the system will be installed by professionals. I found a great deal of help from this forum and diyalarmforum.com.

As above, including using the same forum to help install it, apart from I’m in Wiltshire.

As above, Yorkshire. I found the integration relatively easy, the programming was the harder part, just took a bit of trial and error at times.

Have you looked at Texecom? I wrote a Vera plug-in for their Premier panels, which works well. I have quite a few members using the plug-in now.

Hi Alan

Thanks for pointing that out - hadn’t clocked the Texecom plugin - shame its not listed on the plugin pages for Mios or supported parts. Guess it might be in due time… The Texecom equipment looks pretty good quality and have seen good things written on diyalarmforum. My only question is have you any experience of your plugin being used on a wireless system - specifically the Premier Elite 24-W or the Premier Elite 48-W?

Thanks
Martin

Have you looked the Visonic plug in? It has good integrtion with Vera.
Visonic hardware is for sale in the uk.

All current users have Premier 48 panels or above. Nobody has mentioned wireless before so I’m not sure if the plug-in would need modifying to support it.
