Alarm Panel Integration

I would like to integrate an alarm panel with Vera3. I have Vera with Kwikset locks on the way. I have an ‘old’ hardwired security system, so wuold just like to replace the panel so I can extend it into Vera3 for remote management and to activate scenes. I would like to be able to open my door, enable some lighting, and disable the alarm panel all at the same time. I also will extend Vera3 into IP cameras.

Looking through the forums and wiki pages, there is some confusing and contradictory information. So, I am asking this community what is the best options to use a Vera with an alarm system? One note before answering, I do like the control panels made by Honeywell, so I was thinking of going with them. But, the following page shows that support for their panels is not ‘mature’.

Seriously though, I do like the look of the Honeywell Tuxedo control panel, although I think it should be a bit thinner! There was somebody the other day asking if people were interested in buying one:
