Wish I read this before I bought another Smart Switch 6 I’ve got an older one that works fine but have just bought a 2nd and I’m seeing the purging associations error. Is there an easy fix or should I just send it back to Amazon as faulty?

Is there an easy fix or should I just send it back to Amazon as faulty?
I am in the same boat now. Amazon just delivered my second SS6. I’m also getting the same error message when I try to activate a Sensative slim door/window sensor.
I’d try setting it up initially with it close to Vera. In my case, I simply used an extension lead so I could put it right next to it. Once it got through the initial setup (which with the latest update to Vera seems to be more comprehensive), it was fine. If you are still having issues after that, then yes I’d probably take advantage of the Amazon refund process.
When I change the automatic config to no, it operates just fine. It will feed the wattage back to Vera and turn on/off based on the schedule I set within PLEG. If I compare the advanced settings if my two units, there are only a couple of variables missing, one being neighbors. I thought about manually cutting them from my other SS6, but I don’t want to break it more too since it is working at the moment. (Plus it is within ~15 feet of my controller, through a couple of walls, so no need to relay through the z-wave mesh.)
I?ve got three and all were almost unusable. I?ve changed autoconfigure to off and now they all work perfectly. Great find and I?m very happy, since 5he switches are pretty great hardware.

Have a case open with Vera Support - but no joy.
Can pair some other devices ok. But also get the Purging problem on Fibaro Dimmer 2’s.
Per Aeotech tech support, Firmware 1.3 or 1.6 will work. 1.4 will NOT work and it causes the PURGING ASSOCIATIONS error.
Personally, I’m not buying a ZWAVE USB stick just to fix their screwup. I’m going to let Aeotech replace it or it is going back for a full and courteous refund from Amazon.
That Smart Switch is way too expensive for what it does.
Did Aeotec give you firmware 1.6? I only see 1.4 available on their support site.
Gents,
I’ve got this switch, my association is always successful on both my controllers Vera & Zipato. On Vera I cant control the switch nor do i see the consumption details/ metering. Everything work like is should in Zipato and more it also shows up with the controls for [move]RBGW :o [/move]
In a nut shell can anyone help with sorting out my inability to control this switch in Vera ON/OFF not all that interest in the metering.
I have a number of this switches but always had a problem setting up. How do you change autoconfigure to off?
The problem with the Aeotec Smart Switch 6 is a FIRMWARE VERSION on the switch.
If you contact Aeotec, they will email you firmware that fixes your Smart Switch 6, IF you have a Zwave USB stick.
I didn’t feel like buying a USB stick, so I mailed my Smart Switch 6 to CHRIS CHENG at Aeotec support. Chris upgraded my firmware at no charge and sent it back to me. GREAT SERVICE!
Thanks Chris, my Smart Switch 6 now works fine.
That’s cool and very nice of Chris. Out of curiosity, what did it cost to mail the switch? I need to outweigh if it’s cheaper that route then buying a USB. I have a few Aeotec devices and plan to get more. If you don’t recall or want say, what is the zip code you sent to and I can get the estimate.
I contacted Aeotec for the firmware to resolve this (specifically the AU Version).
Chris Cheng sent me a file OTA_for Smart_Switch_6_AU_V1_00 (20150911).rar and advised me to downgrade the firmware to v1.00 resolve the issue.
How do I read the version number of the SS6 firmware?
Thanks
From Aeotec support:
For Vera, you can determine firmware version using these steps:
Click on the main node of the DEVICE under “Device” page in Vera.
Go to Advanced → Variables
Look for “VersionInfo”
The last 3 digits on the right side will tell me what firmware version you are running.
I was sent the firmware for 1.03 and 1.06. The newer features of 1.06 are not supported in Vera, yet. However I’m not using any newer features, so I loaded 1.06. Chris recommended downgrading to 1.03. Which I may still. After about 10 days of running firmware 1.06, the plug itself locked up. It would not manually turn on or off, what ever state it was in before, on or off, it remained in that state but the ring was displaying a dim purple. A unplug/plug resolves it and this has only happened once. If it happens again, I will downgrade.
Under version number, I have 3,4,5,1,3
So I take that to be 1.03 perhaps?

That is correct. You have 1.03 if your version is ending in 1,3. I have one of each, 1.03 and 1.06, each showing 1,3 or 1,6 respectfully.
