Aeon microswitch in 3-way setup

Before I start I have to confess I don’t have some of the needed information about the wiring, but I will give the info I currently have.

After researching using an aeotec microswitch in a three way setup I found that using an unconventional method you can do it without having to run additional wiring by jumpering the poles on each switch together. I sent this information to the guy who does my electrical stuff (I don’t like dealing with high-power) and he created a test bench for it. Basically a board with a power cord, two 3-way switches and a light to test how it works.

I can’t see the wiring so I don’t know if he followed the example I sent him, but it does work…sort of.

It works, but if you turn the light off remotely (or by pressing the button on the in-wall switch) you have to toggle the switch twice to change state. Beyond that it works normally.

Example:

  1. Turn switch one (light turns on)
  2. Turn switch one (light turns off)
  3. Repeat steps 1-2 with switch 2 with the same results
  4. Turn off switch remotely
  5. Toggle either switch (nothing happens)
  6. Toggle either switch (works correctly)

I thought it might be because the configuration of the aeotec unit might be wrong, but if I changed it you always had to toggle the (normal) switches twice to get it to change state.

Any thoughts on what is wrong or do I need to know how it is wired to proceed?
