Aeon Labs Multisensor vs Everspring SP814-1 Motion Sensor Benchmark

For those that besides me are interested in a performance comparison between the Aeon Labs 4-in-1 Multisensor and the Everspring SP814-1 Motion Sensor, I have made a small benchmark test. The reason was that I always felt that the Everspring was either slow, or really slow in reporting it’s detections, and I wanted to get the hard data.

I entered the view of both the motion detectors simultaneously, and checked the delay between two signals being received in the Vera log. Sensitivity was set at the maximum on both sensors.

Conclusion (by my results): The Aeon Labs 4 in 1 multisensor is consistently faster than the Everspring SP814-1 Motion Sensor, by an average of 1,8 seconds.

(It should be noted that the Aeon Labs sensor begins to turn the light on in about 1,5 seconds, and that I measured the delay between the two, not the absolute time. Actual time for the Everspring is thus about 1,5 plus the average delay of 1,8 seconds.)

Here are my results from 20 measurements, measuring the delay in seconds between the responses in the log:
Min delay: -0.38 seconds
Max delay: 7.2 seconds ← This is rare but really annoying when it occurs.
Average delay: 1.8 seconds ← This is how much faster the Aeon Labs sensor is, on average.
Two data points were left out as the Everspring sensor never recorded them during the 3 second exposure…

Raw data, delay in seconds:

1.00 1.70 1.90 7.20 1.10 3.49 -0.38 0.70 1.90 0.57 0.84 2.05 1.27 1.13 2.54 1.07 1.77 0.55 3.19 2.89

Hopes this helps someone about to choose what to get. Personally I’ll throw the slow Everspring sensors out of my dark rooms. It’s just not sensible to stand around 3-7 seconds in the dark.
Feel free to post other sensor benchmarks.

Update: Just realized that the new sensor is giving false readings like other people have mentioned :frowning:
