Aeon Labs Dimmer Switch (Dull)

Greetings,

I got one of those lovely Floor Lamps that eat current but produce some pretty good light… When I recently bought a Aeon Dimmer switch I noticed that the light was not as bright running at a maximum of 178W much lower than I have seen it produce… The switch is rated for 500W so it is well within spec but the lamp is not running at full brightness…

Is it a fault of the switch or how does the Z-Wave switch know what 100% brightness is, is it some capabilities setting I can tweak to turn it up to full brightness…

Hoping someone can help

IIUC, when you have the lamp turned on and set to the 100%, then remove the dimmer, the lamp gets brighter? The total wattage of the bulbs is (significantly) more than 178W?

Yes I believe the bulb is 300W if memory recalls way below what 100% is setting it at…

Mmm, I never tried a 300W load, but it sounds like a hardware issue. Does the device work ok with a smaller (60W-100W) load?

Hard to say I am going to be testing it against other desk lamps and see if I have the same issue… I am however agreeing with you it looks like I got a bad dimmer switch…

Thanks for your help…

I have 2x Aeon Micro Smart Illuminators now set up in my house.

  • The first has a smooth transition when turning on and gives full power output.

  • However the second flickers more when turning on and then only gives about 90% output.

Ive tried changing globes between the two and fault fault stays with the Aeon Illuminator.
