I have two Aeon 4 in 1 sensors, both located outdoors and both are used to trigger outside spot lights in the evening. The front sensor is working OK, no malfunctions just not thrilled with it’s range nor the speed of the scene it triggers. But the one in the back of the house goes “NOT responding” and back again several times throughout the day. I’m suspecting my Veralite is having trouble communicating with it every once in a while but there are other z-wave devices within 3 feet of the sensor that never have issues. I have also moved this sensor 4’ from it’s optimal location and that made no difference.
Is there anything that I can test to figure out why it’s having issues…?
When the sensor goes “NOT responding” will it’s still trigger the scene or will Vera not see the motion at all…?
I should have also mentioned that both sensors are set up EXACTLY the same with the same timeout’s, sleep etc. VERIFIED three times…
The best test for any device is to place it within a couple of meters of Vera and include it. Then test the device to your satisfaction in that location.
After testing is complete, you can ove the device to its final location. It may require a network heal after the move. But you will have an understanding of how the device behaves and can troubleshoot form there.
I’m willing to bet that your present issue will be improved by adding an intermediate node to improve the robustness of your Z-Wave network. It may also be possible to adjust the routing t o gain an improvement. There are lots of threads on these forums dicussing routing; how it works, what to look at, how to heal, how to adjust…

Either is possible. Only testing it will let you know for sure.
