Additional Upgrade experience information

I have continued to research my issues after upgrading from Ui6 to Ui7. I had devices that were missing, scenes that were missing and luup code in scenes that seemed to be missing.

Scenes that were not there still seemed to be active, but I could not get to them. Code that seemed to be missing seemed to still be there but was not acting properly. I finally decided to downgrade to UI6 and totally document everything. Then I plan to upgrade again and match everything up to see what is going on.

Here are some early observations from moving back to UI6 and playing with UI7 prior to downgrading:

Scenes that are there before a device is removed will not display. I had two door contacts set as motion, when I changed them to contacts in UI7, the scenes that referenced them vanished. This explains why some of my scenes were missing after the upgrade, as I had several devices associated with my alarm system that came in different or changed. The scenes associated with those devices were not visible, but it seems as if they were still there.

My code was missing on all the scenes that had luup code associated with trigger events. The luup code associated with the scenes themselves did port over. Now, maybe it was there and I just did not know how to find it in UI7. Does anyone know if you can add trigger event code to scenes in UI7?

UI7 seemed to react much slower to events than UI6 did. Maybe that will change in the next upgrade?

Tech Support has confirmed that Ui7 does not currently support trigger event level Luup. I could swear that when I upgraded to Ui7 with code in trigger events from Ui6, the code “tried” to run. In many cases my event trigger code delayed the start of a function that would decide to turn a device off (after it was turned on by the scene) or not. There were many times there was no code, no delayed scene action but the device would turn off. So I think the code was ported over and the current issue with luup code delays caused the intermittent operation.

Tech support also confirmed that there are issues with Luup code level delays and timers. I feel strongly that this also extends to delayed actions if you have more than two.

As of now I am staying with UI6 and I may try to figure out Pleg.

I am new to Vera and don’t know what to do next. I am not even sure this is the right place to ask for help. I send an email to customer service but not getting response.
I have a VERA 3 and installed it, followed the instructions running 1.7.481 and Created a user id in getvera.
I wanted to install apps for Nest, and DSC alarm panel. I also created a user ID at cp.mios but cp.mios cannot detect my VERA. When I logged in to the mios appsi get the message “you don’t have any unit to connect with” which I understand since my unit was not detected at cp.mios.
What am I doing wrong?
is UI7 the right firmware to be at and if not how do I downgrade?
Can I still install apps/plugins if the unit is registered at getvera and if so how do I go about it?
Help!!

You don’t need a cp.mios.com ID if you just want to install plugins on your UI7 vera.

Install them directly from your UI (not apps.mios.com) by logging into your vera, then going to Apps…Install Apps. The search for or browse to the app, click on “Details” then “Install.”

If you want to publish Apps, then you’d need a cp.mios.com user ID. (At least as of now.)
