In the camera’s configuration, I have both the UPnP options enabled, but the Vera3 will not discover the camera, even after rebooting the Vera3 and the camera.
Regardless, I go to Devices → Add Devices → I want to add an IP Camera, and under the heading “New cameras I just detected:” there is nothing. Under the heading “Other cameras I previously detected:” is my Karotz, which works in every regard except for anything having to do with its camera.
Regardless, I press the “Manually Add” button, and the list of cameras is “(none)”. So I enter the snapshot URL that I know works from my browser, either with or without the embedded user:pass, and no matter what, I get a broken image link back.
So then, even with the broken image link, I press the Add button to create the device and the Vera3 reports “Your camera was added.” I press the Close button and no, there is no evidence that any new camera device was added.
Can anyone suggest to me why every aspect of camera support on my Vera3 / UI5 setup is completely non-functional? What troubleshooting can I do get at least something working?
I had some issues setting up my cameras that are fed from an IP9100 with Yoics firmware, but after a bit of manual tweaking got them to work. Like you it messed up the URL but I just fixed it manually in the Settings.
Go into the settings for the camera, and make sure that the IP address is set properly. Then set the device_file parameter to “D_DigitalSecurityCamera1.xml”. Then go to URL and make sure it’s everything AFTER the IP address, but not the ‘/’.
For example, my full URL to one camera is 192.168.1.200/usr/yoics2.jpg, so the IP param is “192.168.1.200” and the URL is “usr/yoics2.jpg”.
Does anyone know how Vera3 / UI5 does UPnP discovery on the IP network? I can find no evidence of miniupnpd on my Vera 3, so I’m wondering if it is done some other way? My Vera 3 will not find my IP camera on the LAN, no matter how many times I reboot and wait for it to be discovered. Can anyone with knowledge of internals help me?
Vera did not seem to see static ip addresses, so the automatic find never worked.
The manual add didn’t really want to work either. I tried adding the camera several times and on several occasions. What eventually worked was that by trolling the forums I noticed that the Advanced settings section was more filled out than I had and specifically I didn’t have the D_DigitalSecurityCamera1.xml which I noticed by wandering around the luup files. I added that line and the camera started looking more like it should I then manually added more of what seemed missing and the foscam started working.
Now the camera section acts more like what I see in the help files. I see more of the dialog. I was not getting this before at all. It is like I stimulated something and caused it to update or download new files.
I have not been able to get the vera 3 to work with the Esky C5900 or Blue Iris.
Thank you for sharing what worked for you, but I can’t even get that far with my Vera 3 because when it says it added my camera device (for which I gave a local image URL manually) it does not in fact even create a device at all, so there is no device that I can subsequently edit to make its definition more accurate. Even the image URL that I supply and works perfectly in the browser, with user name and password, comes up a broken image link in the Vera UI. For what fricking reason I have no clue.
As I laid out at the top of this thread, absolutely every avenue to get some kind of progress is a total failure. It makes me wonder if the nice tech who had to remote control my desktop because my Vera 3 arrived with DOA software, somehow did not install a complete UI5 release. Like I think I mentioned before, I can see zero plug-and-play devices on my network with the Vera. It’s tremendously frustrating.
