Acknowledgements and Happy New Year message

As 2012 draws to a close I would on behalf of the forum like to thank you all for your commitment to our forum during what has been a great year for all members. This year the forum membership grew by over 12000 and nearly 46% of this was this month alone.

I would also like to acknowledge @guessed, @strangley, @garrettwp and @oTi@ for reaching the 3000 post milestone and their personal commitment to the forum. There was also Ap15e who reached and stopped at the 2000 posts milestone, regardless of this, even recent posts show that he provided a significant contribution during his time and hopefully, he will one day decide to contribute again. In addition, there is @JOD who in the near future will reach and hopefully pass the 2000 posts mark with @futzle heading close on their heels. To all those mentioned above, thank you for making this forum what it is and for all the efforts you have contributed to the members to the forum.

What a year it has been. The creativity that has been shown which has resulted in some very innovative, useful and well-designed apps both for Vera and 3rd party devices. I would personally like to thanks all those developers and acknowledge their efforts regardless whether or not I use their app as without their personal efforts and commitments, there would be a significant shortfall in what the year started with and what it now offers. Let’s acknowledge them now they are - @Massalia, @guessed, @strangley, @garrettwp, @futzle, @chixxi, @ZMaF,@Antor, @intvelt, @Chris, @lolodomo, @rudyvan, @anker, @RichardTSchaefer, @hugheaves, @woodsby, @beowulfe, @watou, @hek, @parkerc, @yoocesar, @dfad1469, @lopaka, @docBliny, @PurdueGuy, @TimAlls, @bfromdruten, @radarengineer and if I miss anyone and no doubt I did, please accept my apologies and I extend my thank you to you as well.

To all the members of the forum (albeit active or lurking in the background), thank you for your contributions and I wish everyone a Happy New Year and may all you venture in HA be cheaper, successful and more productive. Have a great New Year and hope to see this continue and grow in 2013.

Add yourself to the list… its been good to have you here the past year!

Soon you will be well on your way to being a “master member” yourself  and who knows what MCV has in store for 4K posts… Maybe @guessed will be the first to be labeled “massively master member”

ditto.

Did Ap15e ever say what system he was going to? Where is he now?

I believe he is still a vera user.

I’d prefer if it the message doesn’t lose its intent of focusing on thanking all the excellent forum members and their continuing efforts over the year but If you review his profile, you’ll see he is still active and just not contributing now.

Thanks Brientim…

I’ve never programmed/coded anything in my life before, and jumping into the world of home automation has been a real eye opener, yet my journey so far has been enhanced so much by this forum and all the contributors.

At first, I used to fear asking what must’ve been very simple (almost stupid) questions, but the responses were always prompt and encouraging. The learning curve with Vera and z-wave (for the non technical) can be very daunting, but the names you’ve listed above considerably enhance the enjoyment we all get from Vera.

Please, never stop

Best holiday wishes to you all too.

Well said Brientim. The contributions of the community are what makes Vera successful. The sum of the whole is vastly, vastly greater than the sum of the parts. In other words, every time a little bit of knowledge is shared, everybody benefits.

Personally I will try to give back as my knowledge grows.

Happy New Year from Australia to one and all.

Well said  In my line of work (knowledge sharing and innovation) I often use Vera as an example of a product that needs an involved user community to succeed. So I think thanks are in order to everyone who has stopped and helped someone else on these forums, even if it was just once.

Best wishes for 2013 to all!

Happy New Year from France to all forum Members.

My best wishes for 2013.

I’ll second, or third, or seventeenth that! I have been active in a number of forums over the years, but none as much as here.

And I’m delighted to see I made the list! Thank you!

The one thing I realised as part of this activity of trying to find the apps and developers so I could acknowledge their efforts, it was not an easy task.

Even though there is the App Store, there is still a lot of apps that never make it there and it required scanning the forum to find those fragments and I am still finding more hidden under layers of threads and posts.

MCV tried to retain a list in wiki but it has not maintained and should be either updated or retired. Of course the App Store was useful but due to the apps fragments on threads, it was a task getting the developers names
On some cases and i added a few since it was initially raised. I’lI made one recommendation to new members of forum is that as you develop your app and decide to post it on the forum always start a new thread.

So if MCV pick up on this or the other awards thread, they or the forum should be able to capture this information and minimise the chance of missing someone’s efforts.

Happy New Year!!
I wonder what CES brings in the Z-wave area this year…
