.906 already usable?

Hello,

Is Version .906 already usable? I found out that this version is already available on the download site. http://download.controlmyhouse.net/betafirmware/ftp/wl500gP_Luup-1.0.906.trx

In general, the MCV Team drop “test” releases there all day long. If it hasn’t been announced (formally, by MCV), or you haven’t been specifically instructed to use it (as part of some sort of diag with MCV) then you’re “flying solo” if you consume it.

I like to think of these as “nightly build” versions, likely untested, mostly never hooked to “findvera” service (etc), no guarantee’s what works and doesn’t.

When I run this type of build, I typically perform the equivalent of “reset to factory defaults”, just in case there are problems in the backup/upgrade process. I have no expectations that “un-announced” versions will work in any way.

So, ultimately, it all depends upon your personal tolerance level for pain.

Sounds like a blind flight to me… Well I think I will stick to an earlier version.
Without having some changelog or at least some background information, it’s a little bit too much potential pain waiting out there

Well, it fixes the problem with hanging jobs I had with .900

Yea How many more years of pain are we to endure.

Unsupported updates cannot be any more painful than supposedly supported ones IMHO.

I love to ping those unofficial URLs throughout the day (and am constantly amazed by how MANY of these ‘test’ firmware revisions get posted!). In a way, I wish they were hidden from view until officially announced/released.

(Anyone remember the .278 debacle?)

Another part of me sees each revision as a potentially luscious Malted Milk Ball, but 80% of them turn out to be missing the crunchy center bit. That’s why I decided always to wait until MCV tells us the crunchy center is officially there.

mark-hc: your post appears to have been edited my MCV. What were you saying?

The edited word of mark-hc has nothing to do with the configuration of Vera. And hope I didn’t upset mark-hc with my edit, he knows what he wrote wrong in that post.

I used adult language. Forgot I was in a G-rated forum. Bit my tongue :stuck_out_tongue:
