I’m installing my first GE 45609. The switch that I’m replacing didn’t have a neutral wired to it, though there appeared to be one capped in the box. I’ve tried two now, and both of them cycle the light on and off rapidly. Disconnecting what I assume is the neutral just makes the whole thing non-functional. Any suggestions?
neutral is required. i would assume this is a single pole (not a 3-way setup). your old switch probably have 2 black wires; 1 hot wire and the other is the load. the first test i learned from this forum is connect that hot wire to the “line” terminal of the 45609. then tap (jumper) from the bunch of neutral and connect it to the “neutral” terminal of the 45609. stop here: you should see the blue LED already on and you should be able to toggle the blue LED on/off. after this stage, connect the black (load) wire to the “load” terminal of the 45609 and you should be able to toggle the light on/off. that’s it. i had that problem before and with the help of this forum, i was able to install three 45609. hope this help.
